Slavery is of course a horrible practice that no one should condone.
However, I'd like to know:
Who convened the court/legislature to make slavery an "international crime"? On whose books is the "law" written? Was this supposed law written before slavery was a practice or was it ex post facto.
WHEREAS: Uncompensated labor was demanded from enslaved Africans and their descendants for more than two centuries on U.S. soil;
Wrong, the U.S. had only existed "four score and seven (that's 87) years" at the time of the Emancipation Proclamation (1776-1863). Before that, it was British who were in control of the colonies. Shouldn't they be held responsible, since it was they who "started" the whole thing?
And the result was my Congresscritter, Danny K. Davis (D-IL) hosting a “All Roads Lead To Reparations” town hall meeting in 2002. To his credit Mr. Davis understood the 14th Amendment prohibited reparations, and this would go nowhere.
At the meeting, the Rev. Wright regurgitated nonsense was angrily refuted by the minority-majority congressional district crowd.
IMHO, the unconstitutional Reparations movement is dead.

Seems to me we have been paying reparations in the form of
welfare checks for many years. Any reparations need to have all welfare receipts deducted first.
If this b.s. is pushed it may finally cause the majority of folks in the U.S. to refuse to pay their taxes.
I know I’ll go to jail before I give a penny of my families money for this crap.

Its not just a ‘get whitey’ issue, there are too many other immigrant groups in the country who will refuse to pay for it.
My friend who lives near me is an African American who emigrated here from Rhodesia when he was a kid.
When he applied for college he was able to list himself as African American and was eligible for great scholarships and perks we normal white folks couldn’t.
He always laughs about the look on peoples faces when they meet him for the first time, he is as lily white as I am.
He legally wrote African American and people assumed he was black, then got all upset when they found out he was white from a white family of landholders who lived there for generations.
I've been waiting, too, but I'm afraid hell will feeze over before that question is ever asked. It needs to be in order to flush him out on this issue.
Putting aside the obvious point that the slaves were originally sold by native Africans, I would be curious as to would be paying the reparations in America.
I’m sure African American’s would have to be exempt, it would be ludicrous if they would have to pay for their own reparations, wouldn’t it?
If even one ethnic group is exempt in the process, out of fairness, then logic should apply to other races whose ancestors had nothing to do with slavery.
Some of these would be Chinese Americans, Polish Americans, Italian Americans, Irish Americans, Jewish Americans etc., etc.
If all ethnic groups except Americans of Africans descent are required to pay, wouldn’t it follow that those groups would be allowed to file class action suits to absolve themselves of guilt?
Besides that, in this country, it is the common and accepted practice to find the SELLERS of products guilty, not the buyers IE: Big Tobacco, Big Fast Food, Big Oil, Big Everything.
Since there are no slaves or slave owners alive today, the descendants should, out of fairness, be held responsible for slavery to occur. that should START with descendants of the African tribal leaders who sold their people and that should include African Americans whose ancestors who can traced back to those SELLERS.
Tracing all these ancestral ties and assigning guilt, of course, would be a long and complicated process and all American’s, alive today, should be allowed their day in court to defend themselves, shouldn’t they?
It’s only fair.
White people died to free the slaves. That is enough reparations. Make your own money. You are in the USA sucker.
