Obama and the Drive for Slavery Reparations
Accuracy in Media ^ | April 21, 2008 | Cliff Kincaid

Barack Obama is the most radical candidate ever to stand at the precipice of acquiring his party’s presidential nomination and the American presidency. It is apparent that he is a member of an international socialist movement which hopes to use the United Nations as a vehicle to shake down U.S. taxpayers for trillions of dollars in slavery reparations. One group, the African World Reparations and Repatriation Truth Commission, is demanding an astronomical $777 trillion.

In 2001, Obama’s Trinity United Church of Christ passed a resolution declaring that:

“WHEREAS: The institution of Slavery is internationally recognized as crime for which there is no statute of limitations, AND

WHEREAS: Uncompensated labor was demanded from enslaved Africans and their descendants for more than two centuries on U.S. soil; AND

WHEREAS: The principle that reparations is the appropriate remedy whenever government unjustly abrogates the rights of a domestic group or foreign people whose rights such government is obligated to protect or uphold has been internationally recognized…”

In that same year, Martha Biondi, Associate Professor of African American Studies and History at Northwestern University, notes that the United Nations World Conference Against Racism was held. It was the result of “a decade of advocacy and organizing at the U.N. Human Rights Commission” and work by the so-called December 12th Movement. The conference issued a “Declaration and Program of Action,” which held that “slavery and the slave trade” constituted a “crime against humanity” and that “Africans and people of African descent, Asians and people of Asian descent and indigenous peoples were victims of these acts and continue to be victims of their consequences.”

“The United Nations has emerged as an extraordinary stage for the reparations movement,” she says.

As President, Obama could take that stage.

I hit the “political humor” button by mistake. This is NOT satire but deadly serious...

Obama is a walking disaster. He*s made some monumental screw ups, proving he lacks good judgment. This will be one of the worst.

We never should hae given money to the Japanese. It is debatebale whether they should have been interned (as were other groups). The fact they got it, and they alone is a bad precedent. White America has to stand up to the race hustlers when they play on this supposed white guilt.

Slavery was and is a morally bankrupt abomination, but its perpetrators are all long dead. The past is littered with injustices; our job is to reduce their number now and in the future. To give money to race hustlers, which is what reparations would amount to, would be to perpetrate still another injustice.

FWIW, the $777 Trillion is SO enormous it is laughable. The only way we could pay that off is to become a Weimar Republic and Sherwin-Williams starts carrying wallpaper made out of the US Dollar.

If we had journalists in this country, instead of shills for Obama, someone would ask him about the Trinity United resolution in favor of reparations for slavery, and if he supported it in 2001, and if he supports it now.

But we don't.

Worse, the GOP won't go after him on this issue either.

This will sure get the white swing voters all hot and bothered to vote for him. Not.

Of course it’s serious. So long as talented people continue “shoring up” for the lesser able while taking a back seat we have a problem. Going along to get along is always a temporary fix. Sometimes, no matter how humble, one has to step up out of character for the sake of the overall system.

I'll agree to slavery reparations for Blacks when the Jews get reparations from Egypt.

The one possible good thing from this election is maybe the beginning of an honest discourse on race relations in America. Most Whites are simply naive about the degree of racist anti-White hatred that exists among the Obamaphiles. This election is a simple IQ test. We'll see if political correctness has poisoned reason and good sense in the American electorate.

"WHEREAS: The institution of Slavery is internationally recognized as crime for which there is no statute of limitations."

It wasn't a crime when it occurred.

"WHEREAS: Uncompensated labor was demanded from enslaved Africans and their descendants for more than two centuries on U.S. soil;"

Then go after the Africans that sold them to Americans.

BTW, No victim, no crime.

“Most Whites are simply naive about the degree of racist anti-White hatred that exists among the Obamaphiles.”

I sure was!

In my 59 years on this planet, I just haven’t been around all that many black folks. I have always been nice to them and they were to me.

I now pray that all this garbage doesn’t make me a racist. I don’t think it will, but that trust I used to give.... may not be present anymore.

Every living slaveholder should be imprisoned; every living slave should receive $1 million.

Even better....

1. I’m a Republican, the party FOUNDED to stop slavery, the party of Abe Lincoln.

2. I’m a Free Methodist, a denomination FOUNDED on anti-slavery.

3. My grandparents were from Europe, lowest class farmers. No slaves owned there, and none of my family on North America until slavery was over for 50 years.

I guess I’m exempt from payments!

The Democrats can pay for it, since they were the ones against ending slavery, started a war over it, started the KKK and Jim Crow laws, and were against the civil rights movement.

I’m working in Nigeria right now, one of the safety people said she worked over here with a black man from Georgia and everytime they saw something crazy (everyday so far) he would say, “Thank God for slavery.”

Slavery was a travesty, but the descendants of slaves are much better off now then they would be if they had stayed in Africa. I would guess if you compare the average pay of black people in America since the end of slavery to the average pay of Africans all of those reparations would have been paid many times over.
