Fenty needs to get with the program. It’s blacks killing blacks. Not good citizens, owning guns, that are the problem. He needs to clamp down on his people.

D.C. Mayor Adrian M. Fenty expressed disappointment today with the Supreme Court's decision striking down the city's gun food law, warning that, "More handguns forks will lead to more handgun violence fat people."

RKBA organizations in the D.C. area need to capitalize on this NOW, before this moronic mayor legislates this at a city level into the equivalent of what it was before the ruling.

I'm holding out for CWP reciprocity to show up on my states list for D.C.

You make some good points. However, more scary than your points is the fact that they are (were) just smart enough to get elected and get the platform and power in which to be able to pass these anti American gun laws. The voters who elected them are the real SCARY CREATURES in my opinion.

Actually, Scalia punted that one - he said the DC ban, under _any_ level of scrutiny, was unconstitutional.

Democrats are the ‘Rain Men’ of politics. Repeat the same nonsense over and over no matter how many times you are contradicted.

Within 1-3 years (depending on how long it takes the goobers to put regs in place) the crime rate will drop drastically in DC.

Parts of Washington DC are a cesspool. They are certainly far more dangerous than Iraq or Afghanistan.

I am telling most libs I know to watch it now. Lets see in a few years, if the murder rate goes up or down.

I’ll bet anything it stays steady or decreases.

On the bright side:

Dangerous criminals shot dead while committing crimes:

1) take up less court time
2) take up less jail space
3) have a lower recitivism rate
4) reduce the rate of global warming
5) consume less food
6) cannot use up the oil supply
7) cannot biologically reproduce
8) do serve as deterrents
9) saves on electricity for “the chair”
10)reduces harmful chemical useage (from injections)
11) puts more criminal lawyers out of business
etc.

On the Liberal (negative) side:

1) cannot vote (except under Chicago style rules)
2) cannot appeal, appeal, appeal
3) cannot testify
4) cannot be living victims
5) cannot use mercury filled energy saving light bulbs
6) cannot biologically reproduce
7) puts more criminal lawyers out of business
etc.

I might feel sorry for the mayor if I thought he really cared about the citizens of his city, especially the ones wearing our country's uniform. But he doesn't. Instead, he stands with the terrorist-supporting, America-hating, US troops-murdering Marxist b!tches of Code Pink:

Well the clause is “keep and bear”. So the Keep part is settled, except for the libs will chip chip chip away at it with absurd regulations, testing, home visits by psychologists, etc.

Hmm.. as for the “bear” part it seems they are not going to honor that 1/2 of the clause at all. Still no CCW permits for law abiding citizens in DC.

My Heller should go apply for the home permit tomorrow, and apply for the Concealed Carry Permit at the same time.

Who knows, he could be back in court in 4 years ...

When looked at this way, it wasn’t much of a victory. It doesn’t prevent 90% of what we, lawful RKBA supporters, have had to fend off in the last 10 years. AWB - no problem. 10 round mag ban - probably ok. Huge “school zones” that exclude guns - yep!

I’m a lot less enthusiastic than everyone else. I might have perferred the other way, we’d have a big outraged base!

A simplistic way of viewing would be to say that handguns can’t be banned but the Feds can still regulate the holy hell out of them. (IF THEY KNOW THAT YOU HAVE ONE)

Kinda difficult to regulate what doesn’t exist, Jack.

I'm with you. This did not settle “bear”, “infringe”, and certainly not the level of scrutiny let alone "incrperation".

One reason I have pistols is because I frequently LEAVE my house. But you can look for more of this:

At a news conference two hours after the court overturned the city's ban on handguns, Fenty (D) said he viewed today's ruling as narrowly tailored to guns in the home and not on the street, emphasizing that the city can still bar handguns from being carried outside of the home.

as the new "Court approved" infringement.

What makes them “not smart”?

All of those things support their end goal.

All true Cicero.
What amazes me is there are umpteen layers of security personnel in our nations capital.
Federal police,park police,
agency police, private security, and on and still banditos everywhere there.
So how good are all these cop types there?

Fenty can say he “views today’s ruling” any way he wants to.

It DID NOT say what he says it said.

The majority opinion was very clear in its declaration of the 2nd amendment’s application to the INDIVIDUAL regardless of militia relationship.

And, it says “keep and bear arms shall not be infringed”.

This ruling will be the basis for overturning of all the laws that you’re worried about.

Good post.

Everyone is so used to getting crap flung at them by politicians and courts that they can not recognize a nice apple pie being handed to them.
