Obama Trounces McCain In Four Swing States

Washington, D.C. (AHN) - Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) is winning the race against Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) in battleground states. A new Quinnipiac/WSJ/WP poll said on Thursday that the freshman senator leads from five to as much as 17 points among voters in four key states.

Obama narrowly has the support of voters in Colorado, where he leads McCain 49% to 44%. The Republican, however, has the edge among men, 50% to 45%, and whites, 47%to 46%.

In Michigan, Obama wins with 48% while McCain trails with 42%. The Illinois senator has a whopping lead among women, 52% to 38%, and African-Americans, 89% to 6%. But again McCain leads among whites, 48% to 42%, and men, 46% and 45%.

Minnesota voters also chose Obama over McCain, 52% to 39%. Obama's 17-point lead is the biggest among the four states, and is due to his overwhelming support among nearly all demographics. The freshman senator beats McCain even among whites, 49% to 42%, and men, 51% to 40%.

The picture in Wisconsin for McCain is not much different. The Arizona senator trails his rival, 39% to 52%.

"Sen. McCain's lead among white voters in Colorado and Michigan cuts the gap to single digits, but doesn't offset Sen. Obama's strength among other groups. The Democrat also leads by eight to 21 percentage points among independent voters in each state," Quinnipiac University said in a release.

"But Sen. Obama should not be picking out the drapes for the Oval Office just yet. His lead nationally, and double digits in some key states, is not hugely different from where Sen. John Kerry stood four years ago at this point in the campaign," Quinnipiac University Polling Institute Assistant Director Peter Brown added.

If the GOP wants this conservative, remove McCain.

You are dead on. McCain is a sure loser, not because he's too conservative, but because he's too liberal.

That's what we're dealing with, and Obama could win this in a landslide.

As long as McCain is the nominee, Hussein's landslide is ensured.

What is more significant is whether the poll is “Adults,” “Registered Voters,” or “Likely Voters.” Polls are more liberal the less you filter for voting habits. It is very common to use “Adults” polls this far out to make it look worse for the Republican.

Not that I am saying to get complacent, but what I am hearing on the ground and friends is completely different than what these over-inflated polls and the drive-by media is stating. On the ground and through the grape-vine, in New York, they are not voting for the fox that wears many faces./Just Asking - seoul62.........

What is the matter with people? Since the horrific things we know about Obama (20 years sitting under a racist, anti-American pastor; William Ayers connection, etc.) are already out in the open, I am worried about November.

I agree, liked it, but the energy/gas issue will be the road to victory for both McCain and taking back congress since dems are on the wrong side of this issue.

If we get the electorate to know the dems’ position on this crisis, we will hear cries to keep Gitmo open and to send the dems there!

Please note how that AP poll from yesterday that I quoted was IGNORED . No Matt Drudge headline in Red for any bad news about Obama . I am sure your poll will be ignored as well and not mentioned by Matt or CNN or CBS or MSDNC .... the rest of the Obama infomercial media elites. It must of killed the Obama drones at Time to report that. The radical left editor at Time had to be on vacation in the North Pole to let that one slip by.

McCain will NOT kill conservatism. I seem to think the basic principles of conservatism will meet the test of time more than you. ;-)

“Call me a nose despite the face conservative. And, like it or not, I am not alone.”

No, and no thanks to you, the rest of us will be forced to deal with some ugly realities if Obama wins....several of which will NOT be easily or quickly changed.

After you have removed your own nose...Obama will go for your lungs as well. ;-/

“This is going to be a huge stunner to many Freepers when Obama wins a landslide, which I’m afraid is in the cards.”

We’ll see. I firmly believe that Obama will be struck down by the same hubris that sunk Kerry. It may be close, but it’s his to lose and lose it, he will. :)

"I cringe when I see so-called conservatives waste a vote on McCain, when there are conservative third-party choices.

Right and a vote for Bob Barr or the fellow no-one's heard of from the Constitution Party is not a wasted vote. That's a principled vote.

And, of course, being the lover of representative government that you are, you advocate that the Republican Party should refuse to run the person that won the primaries.

He may not have been my first choice, but there ARE only 2 choices in this battle. And the DalaiBama is not an option, at all.

As for the "Dont give me this “A vote for a third party is a vote for Obama” crap.....that BS is for double-digit IQ “my candidate is a loser” types." The comment is laughable on it's face, notwithstanding the purile insult. You go ahead and vote for the Constitution Party candidate that no-one has ever heard of. That's for 3 digit IQ's. Only members of MENSA do that.

And Mr. mensa member says that the Republican Party should turn the electoral process on it's ear because otherwise he's taking his ball and he's going home.

You may have a stunningly high IQ, but you really need to stop reasoning like a 7th Grader.

We simply disagree on the outcome of a Hussein victory. I know it means conservatives, true conservatives to power in 2012. You think a McCain victory means that.

Only time will tell.

The country will not last 25 years under the Rats. There will be catastrophic upheavel less than two years if Obama is elected.

What's truly amazing is that Michigan the former Automobile Center of the world keeps on voting for those that brought them down and literally destroyed them.
Just look at their old Congressional guard which is still in place there obviously assured of survival by their victims, the voters.

Minnesota may not be a lost cause. Remember, the RNC is being held in Saint Paul this year.
