Today's Obamafuscation: on redefining marriage

Via Townhall, Reuters reports Obama claims to be against same-sex marriage, but also against the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) or any other effort to defend the traditional definition of marriage:

She [Michelle Obama] said he [Barack Obama] supported a complete repeal of the federal Defense of Marriage Act, or DOMA, which only recognizes marriages between men and women and upholds states' rights not to honor same-sex marriages performed elsewhere. He also opposes a "don't ask, don't tell" policy toward gays in the U.S. military and was against a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage, she added.

He supports full family and adoption rights for gay and lesbian couples and believes the federal government should not stand in the way of states that opt for domestic partnerships, civil unions or civil marriage, she said. The Illinois senator opposes same-sex marriage.

But that last sentence is ridiculous, totally contradicting all the previous content of the story. He does not oppose same-sex marriage. It's obviously a lie to say he opposes same-sex marriage. He might say he opposes it because his view isn't politically popular, but that's just a matter of cowardice and dishonesty. Barack Obama favors the radical redefinition of marriage. He should just be honest and say so.

Exactly, and to make things “worse” O’Reilly is claiming that the Obamao is opposed to same sex marriage, which is a non starter, repealing DOMA, repealing “Don’t ask, Don’t tell” and somehow the Obamao is opposed to gay marriage?

If there is a single issue that Conservatives have cared deeply about, from Taxes, to Marriage, to Abortion, to the 2nd amendment, to winning the Iraq War, the Obamao is an enemy of each and every one of those things.

Of course Obama is lying! If the American people buy his general election makeover, they have forfeited the right to be angry about the things he'll do when he takes office.

Obama favors the radical redefinition of marriage. He should just be honest and say so.

With all the sucking up (not a pun but intended anyway) Barack and Michelle have been doing this week with the homosexuals, it will only be a matter of time before he states that as President, he will push for a national civil union bill.

His answer would surely be, “because I don’t think the American people are at the level yet where they can accept the idea of same sex marriage. When that day comes we’ll be a better nation.”

I’m really curious as to where Michelle is REALLY on this - after all, he is her husband, but he sure does a lot of thing that seem gay...meanwhile, she is really strong...this seems more complicated than Bill and Hillary. I have a hard time believing someone like Michelle is OK with this

Just another issue that barack mcgovern will put aside, secure in the knowledge that he “fool ‘em again.” His problem is the same problem the rat always faces which is living in a fantasy world. While the voters who do not necessarily care about gay “marriage” will seem to be fooled, those who care about the issue will not be fooled.
McCain is ok on this issue. b-mac will HAVE bow at the alter of gay “marriage.” That will hurt him in Virginia and North Carolina the only Southern States the delusional ash hole thinks he can win.
