Pro-Life Group Appalled that Abortionist Morgentaler Would Even be Considered for Order of Canada

OTTAWA, June 29, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - It has come to the attention of Campaign Life Coalition (CLC) that the Governor General intends to bestow the Order of Canada on abortionist Henry Morgentaler on July 1st.

"It is dreadful that this honour should even be considered for a man who's only claim to fame is that he is a professional killer of defenseless babies in their mothers' wombs," said Jim Hughes, National President of Campaign Life Coalition. "Those who have received this prestigious medal should return it because it will have been devalued and disgraced," he continued.

"If Morgentaler had any integrity he would refuse the medal", said Mary Ellen Douglas, National Organizer of CLC. "This presentation should be given to people who have made Canada a better place to live and the elimination of thousands of human beings who would have contributed to the future of Canada is a disgrace not an honour."

The left just doesn't see it this way.

This man isn’t just an abortionist, he’s downright horrible all the way around. He’s atheist, hates Judaism, though he was born a Jew, opposes the existence of Israel, and is trying to open abortion clinics in the arctic. Basically, this is a guy that goes around Canada saying “Hey, have you got a baby? I’ll abort it! Happily! Are you sure? I’m eager to kill it!”.

Abortion is not about saving women’s lives!

Studies Find Abortions Have Long-Term Effects

An Unexpected Correlation: The Legacy of Abortion

Study: Previous Abortions Linked With Pre-Term Birth and Cerebral Palsy

48,589,993

Total Abortions since 1973

------------------------------------------------------------

Why the drop after 1960? (in deaths of women from illegal abortions)

The reasons were new and better antibiotics, better surgery and the establishment of intensive care units in hospitals. This was in the face of a rising population. Between 1967 and 1970 sixteen states legalized abortion. In most it was limited, only for rape, incest and severe fetal handicap (life of mother was legal in all states). There were two big exceptions — California in 1967, and New York in 1970 allowed abortion on demand. Now look at the chart carefully.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Abortion Statistics - Decision to Have an Abortion (U.S.)

· 25.5% of women deciding to have an abortion want to postpone childbearing

· 21.3% of women cannot afford a baby

· 14.1% of women have a relationship issue or their partner does not want a child

· 12.2% of women are too young (their parents or others object to the pregnancy)

· 10.8% of women feel a child will disrupt their education or career

· 7.9% of women want no (more) children

· 3.3% of women have an abortion due to a risk to fetal health

2.8% of women have an abortion due to a risk to maternal health

----------------------------------------------------------------------

So how many women’s lives have been saved by abortion?

Only about 3% of abortions since 1972 were reported to be “due to a risk to maternal health.” A reasonable person would recognize that not all of those cases represent a lethal risk. But let’s say they did. That means that nearly 45 million fetuses were butchered to save the lives of about 1.3 million women. Or put another way; 35 babies are killed to save each woman.

Abortion was legal in all 50 states prior to Roe v. Wade in cases of danger to the life of the woman.

It was the Supreme Court of Canada that threw out charges of abortion against Morgantaler. He had been convicted before in Canada and had been in prison. Wikipedia tells us that the Supreme Court decision effectively ended abortion as a criminal offence in Canada.

An American statesman said beware of the black robes. In this case the Supreme Court of Canada wear red robes. We see, only too clearly the changing of laws, not the enforcing of them, is the prerogative of these people.

Morgentaler was born in 1923. He was in a concentration camp. I firmly believe that subconsciously the man has his revenge. Revenge on the innocent and helpless, the same as the concentration camp was the death of the innocent and helpless. He is said to have $11 million in profit from his abortion clinics.

Damn his soul.

Thanks for the ping and great info. Oh the irony that they could give Canada's highest achievement award to some one who saves children, someone who tirelessly works for Human rights and someone who lives off the avails of death. It's a real head shaker
