Republican strategists trying to game Sen. Barack Obama's choice for a running mate are focusing more and more on the possibility that he might pick former House Majority Leader Dick Gephardt, a friend of labor and blue-collar workers. "Gephardt is the one we're most afraid of," said a key GOP strategist and Bush ally...

Gephardt is the one we're most afraid of...

Yeah, right. It doesn't take much for them to be afraid, does it? Gephardt for Labor Secretary, maybe. But Veep? I don't see it. Sucking up to labor is not an Obama weak point.

Is there anyone? My second guess is he’s gonna pick SC Gov. Sanford.

I don’t know, but Gephardt would be an awful choice.
I hope he picks him.

Darn, you had me there for a minute. I was certain that Sanford was a Republican and second-guessed myself.
Sanford would be a good choice for McCain. A southern governer running mate would be a great choice, but in McCain’s case the vp doesn’t need any military experience.

Obama needs executive and military and a southerner on his ticket. McCain has much wider choices.

The GOP is evidently employing 20th century strategists in the 21st century.

The one Republicans are most afraid of is someone like Colin Powell. Powell won’t do it. I still figure Obama has a good chance of choosing Bill Richardson. Why anyone would be a afraid of Gephardt is beyond me. I’m sure such a choice would be a delightful in that it would not affect the race in Obama’s favor at all. The most Gephardt offers is a neutral choice and that is the best I think Obama can hope for. If he chooses someone more polarizing than himself then he will be rolling out the red carpet for McCain. What he needs is someone like Bill Richardson to balance the ticket a bit and appeal to Hispanics and more conservative Democrats.

The truth is they’d love it if he picked some dud like Gephardt. Don’t assume they are more stupid than they are.
What the Republican party needs is to pull in a platoon of freepers to strategize.

If they had any brains, it would be McCain they would fear most.

The Dems can afford to toy with Republican minds.
They know the Obamasiah, his racist wife and their two daughters would have to be caught on film assembling Palestinian bomb belts and Iraqi IEDs to give McEgo the slightest chance of winning the election.

As far as the Dem VP - Obama could pick Robert Mugabe and still whip McEgo like a rented mule.

If the Pubbies in power really wanted a chance to win the election they would convince McEgo to have a medical crisis and decline the nomination for health reasons.

Richard A. Gephardt, or Richard Gaines, the SAT cheater? Either way, a big time gun grabber.

Perfect for Barry Hussein.

Dickie retired ahead of being dumped by Pelosi for House Minority Leader. He’s old news and brings nothing to the rodent ticket.

These clowns just WON’T go away will they?
Gephart is one who said he remembered as a 5 yr old his father talking about collective bargaining before meals.
(Guess that was in lieu of saying Grace)
He brother admitted DICK was an idiot.
Rush played the hell out of those remarks....

As I recall, most of Dickie’s family were Republicans who wouldn’t even endorse him for office.
