"The Shipping News"
Won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in '93 but I don't like the literary style of it. Oftentimes verbless.

I get an opportunity to boast!!
I just finished “War and Peace”...something I had promised myself to do for a long time. I guess I was intimidated by the length, but I shouldn’t have. It was as good as they get. (Only last 2-3 chapters a bit boring).
We had TIVOed “John Adams”, watched that last week, and that motivated me to read “1776” by David McCullough. ‘Have read 8 pages so far.
‘Great to see these other titles posted, and think we should have an award for everybody who reads “Atlas Shrugged.”

Just finished Moment Of Truth In Iraq by Michael Yon. Highly recommended. Savoring every word of My Correct Views On Everything by Leszek Kołakowski. Marx, philosophy, and the role of religion in the life of man. Fantastic stuff. And I'm just starting War and Decision by Douglas Feith.

Just finished “The Last Valley: Dien Bien Phu and the French Defeat in Vietnam” by Martin Windrow. One of the very best books I’ve read in the last several years; brilliant in fact. Working my way through “The Fight” by John White, on spiritual warfare for the Christian.

Also, been proofreading (not sure if that counts for this thread) a book I've been working on.

I am reading "Moment of Truth in Iraq" by Michael Yon.
This book is a must read for all liberals and conservatives alike.
It explains so much and you willl be convinced we need to stay and finish the job in Iraq.
American values will prevail even when we fight a war.
Kudos to Michael Yon for a great book!

I'm rereading David Gemmel’s “Troy - Lord of the Silver Bow” in preparation for Gemmel’s “Shield of Thunder” and “Fall of Kings.”

Also recently finished two other books. “Liberal Fascism” by Jonah Goldberg and “A Small Favor” by Jim Butcher. Maybe when my work schedule slows down I can actually get some more reading in, rather than talk about what I recently finished...
