The swiftboating of Barack Obama
Guardian UK ^ | 7/3/08 | Zach Roth

The Republican party's attempts to portray Obama as arrogant could hurt him in the election.

Presidential races generally hinge on character issues - as Republicans understand. That's why, the last two times out, the GOP has won the White House by hammering into voters' minds the idea that the Democratic candidate embodies a particular negative quality. In 2000, Al Gore was depicted (with the help of a lazy and compliant press corps) as a serial exaggerator. Four years later, John Kerry was portrayed as a weak-willed flip-flopper. Ultimately, it was these personal caricatures, far more than any specific policy prescriptions, that doomed the Democrats.

So it stands to reason that Republicans are trying that strategy again this year - especially given how unpromising the issue climate is for their party. Over the last few months, Barack Obama has been variously labelled an "elitist", a naïve softie and simply "out of the mainstream" in his lifestyle and associates. And lately, in what appears to be the centrepiece of the GOP's attacks, Republicans have focused on portraying Obama as arrogant and self-interested.

John Kerry was portrayed as a weak-willed flip-flopper.

No no no no. His positions were portrayed as being nuanced. Yea. Nuanced. That's the ticket ...

Ok, no need to continue. This is clearly a joke, or a barf alert worthy piece of eurosh*t.

The first sentence should read:

Barry [”can’t make a speech without a teleprompter”] Hussein obama’s attempts to portray himself as arrogant could hurt him in the election.

Speaking of speaking of the Obamas..

I wonder what it would be like if someone made a comedy album.. er, CD, like Vaughn Meader's mega hits. I think he was under thirty when "The First Family" was released in 1962.

Vaughn Meader answered what some called the "star-struck American public, [thirst] for all-things-Camelot." Millions loved JFK and Meader's impersonation of JFK. Meader's LP comedy records sold by the millions. The White House did finally let him know, Thanks but no thanks.

I wonder -- I bet today if someone tried that with Obama in the White House he'd get charged with a hate crime.

Anything less than worshipfulness is hate mongering -- back in JFK days the Tenth Amendment was considered code words for racism. Now the First Amendment is deemed code words for hate.

“Gore was a serial “exaggerator”, if the press wasn't so lazy and compliant they would have shown them to be repeated lies.”

Algore’s greatest achievement has been overlooked. Invention of the Internet.
I can't understand why those swift boaters would portray algore as an exaggerator.

Seriously wrong facts.

Al Gore did himself in by being a headcase throughout the campaign on top of his past “breaks with reality” while VP.

Kerry was not exposed as a “week-willed flip-flopper”. He was exposed as an absolute fraud through and through.

Lazy writing indeed.

Obambi is being swiftboated? Does that mean some other Chicago rabble-rousers have come forward to show proof that Barry Obama didn’t really file a grievance (or whatever it is that a “neighborhood organizer” does) when he claimed to have been saving Chicago?

You know it. Sinclair was interviewed for 2 solid hours thursday on Talkstarradio.com Neighborhood 21, and he also took calls from his rabid opponents and held beat them .

Obambi has got problems.
