Kosovo,Ho!

The travel section of the paper featured a story on Kosovo the other day with a recommendation that readers visit this latest "must see" spot on the globe. It made me laugh. Almost forty years ago--1971 to be exact -- I traveled in what was then called Yugoslavia and is now called Kosovo. The memories of that trip remain so vivid and so utterly at odds with this report.

My husband took a trip to his family homeland, Montenegro, last month and took a side trip to Mostar, in Bosnia. The pictures show shot out buildings...what it didn’t show was the hatred towards America. We backed, and continue to back, the wrong people in that fight.

By the way, Dubrovnik is a tourist haven now. It is a cruise ship port. Beautiful, but way expensive. Belgrade? A shell of a city and boy, do they hate Americans.

"A shell of a city and boy, do they hate Americans."

On that particular subject,
I don't much like Americans myself.

“in that fight”

Opinions aside, it wasn’t a “fight.” At least US should have lifted the arms embargo. Otherwise it is as US unleashing the US Army and Marines in one state who does not even have it’s own national guard.

So don’t call it a civil “war” or a “fight.”

This is what Serbia took control of, in addition to pool of money:

You are correct on that point, Hildy.

And I see the newest member of the Serb-hating Dhimmwit brigade has already pinged you. He’s actually been previously banned under a number of screen names, including Appalled but not surprised, Ronly Bonly Jones, old-and-old, The Great Prophet Zarquon, and prometheus1982.

What a mistake of tragic proportions. The creature established used the so-called Kosovo Liberation Army which included about 1,000 foreign mercenaries from Albania, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina (Muslims) and Croatia. Among the mercenaries there were also British and German instructors.

Most of these mercenaries are Albanian nationals, especially former Albanian army officers, policemen and members of the Albanian state security forces. In other words we helped those Maoists who were in charge of Albania all those dark years.

I have no idea what you are talking about. This is a recollection of a trip forty years ago in an area of the world which was then exceedingly poor and underdeveloped and riven with ethnic tensions and animosity, something no traveler could have missed.

"This is a recollection of a trip forty years ago in an area of the world which was then exceedingly poor and underdeveloped and riven with ethnic tensions and animosity, something no traveler could have missed."

And unfortunately not much has changed since then on those counts.

Actually, the author's reminisces were interesting, and the comments were even more so. Because she didn't describe Kosovo as some sort of "paradise on earth", the Albanian commentators seemed to want to skewer & roast the her. I was waiting for one of them to call her "a Serb propagandist", but they seem to have stopped just short of that.... at least for the moment.

I was in Montenegro once in 1977, and it was a bit rough, but nowhere near that rough. My great laugh was the "Jugoplastika" store, where they sold all things plastic. "Commercial marketing" was not exactly on Jugoslavia's priority list back then, so you'd try on a pair of plastic beach shoes that had been sitting inside a kitchen mixing bowl for sale -- if you could ever find anyone who was willing to interrupt their coffee to sell it to you!

That one trip actually turned me from a Liberal into a Conservative for several reasons:

When we were driving up the coast, we came around the corner and there was this huge Russian ship with an enormous hammer and sickle on it that seemed to appear out of nowhere. I was young but it had scared me so much that I actually cowered & crossed myself. I eventually discovered that there had been no Russian troops on it -- that was the deal, the Yugoslavs would only agree to fix the ship if the ship was unloaded of Russian troops before it docked, because no Russian soldiers were allowed on Yugoslav soil. None the less, that huge ship and the immense hammer and sickle had nearly knocked the wind out of me.

My assessment of life in Yugoslavia was that communism in action there was nothing more that enforced mediocrity. It's as though they found the lowest common denominator in society and then prevented anyone from exceeding it. Made for a lot of very resentful and miserable people at work. Yet, outside of work, they were otherwise happy family-oriented people. It was the system that sucked, not the people.

Well, looks like Ronly Bonly Jones (Santino Ronly-Bonly Corleone?) has received yet ANOTHER banishment!!!! He just couldn’t resist coming back (under yet another screen-name) so soon after his last departure, to exploit the granting of “Kosovo independence” by the New World Order. His gloating over the misfortune of the Serbian people was especially EVIL this time!!!!

From his posts under his orginal screen-name, I think that he is a member of the “Bosnia lobby”. I’ve had to tangle with this group in real life, in my local community. These mainly liberal “human rightsers” have been working to sell us out to the NWO and to expansionist islam, which are much worse enemies to America than King George III ever was. So getting rid of Ronly Bonly Jones was a good and appropriate Independence Day present to us all.

It's only 5 days away from Ronly Bonly bin Laden's first ban almost 4 years ago. Free Slivo for anyone who shows up at my house that day! LOL!
