'Obama found dead in shock accident' email being sent around

Posted on 07/05/2008 8:29:18 AM PDT by Grig

My spam filter grabs a non-spam email now and then and I've been monitoring what it does so I can adjust the settings and make sure it stops doing that. One of the spam I got last night had the title 'Obama found dead in shock accident'.

I'm sure if it said 'Bush' or "McCain' instead of Obama conservatives would be up in arms about it, and so I hope also see this in the same light.

I'm in Canada so I'm sure if this breaks a law or not up here. Have any of you in the USA received this and reported it?

Probably a prank from some whitey who read Hussein’s books.

Below are a few lines from Obama’s books “ in his own words:

From Dreams of My Father: “I ceased to advertise my mother’s race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites.”

From Dreams of My Father: “I found a solace in nursing a pervasive sense of grievance and animosity against my mothers race.”

From Dreams of My Father: “There was something about him that made me wary, a little too sure of himself, maybe. And white.”

From Dreams of My Father: “It remained necessary to prove which side you were on, to show your loyalty to the black masses, to strike out and name names.”

From Dreams of My Father: “I never emulate white men and brown men whose fates didn’t speak to my own. It was into my father’s image, the black man, son of Africa , that I’d packed all the attributes I sought in myself, the attributes of Martin and Malcolm, DuBois and Mandela.”

From Audacity of Hope: “I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”

I’ve been here on FR since ‘98 so there is a nice long CONSERVATIVE posting history for you to check out.

Most people who accuse you/me/other long time posters of such nonsense are TOO LAZY to do their homework...or else they just don't care. It's all about them...

Many of us refer to those who joined in 2006 (largest period of troll infestation) as 'FR Lite'.

>>>I saved it to a text file without opening it and only looked at the text file.<<<

Good for you! I do this too. Anyone that doesn’t realize this trick should pay attention to Grig’s tip here for checking unknown mail.

As you know, it was Hillary who made the connection from Obama to RFK and his death in June as she explained why she was not dropping out.

Looks like Hillary was off by just a few days.

Her Arkancide skills are slipping.

lololol

And if the spam can be traced to a Hillary supporter.....

A) saying I’m ‘schilling for Obama’ makes you look like an ignorant fool. My support has always gone to the right, both in time and money and in my postings. I really wanted Mitt to win the nomination. Whether Obama is better or worse than Hilary is debatable, but both of them are crap, and I’m not keen on McCain either. Just because I don’t support Obama doesn’t mean I’m going to applaud when someone does something like this. It’s wrong no matter what politician is in the subject line.

B) By embracing a double standard so enthusiastically you lose the moral right to object to Democrats incorporating veiled death threats to Bush and other Republicans in cartoons, novel, movies etc. Having politics devolve even further into the gutter isn’t good for anyone.

You think it is a matter not worth bothering with, fine, you’ve said so and can now go post on some other thread. Don’t be so eager for a fight that you start creating friendly fire.

A fake news headline saying someone is DEAD is not a threat, is it?

Grig is a long time poster who has also had articles published in right of centre publications up here.

You should back off before you make more of a fool of yourself, J Rooney.

RE: Have any of you in the USA received this and reported it?

No, but there are various and sundry media productions and hopes about the assassination of the current President. How do liberals deal with that? They love it, except that it's only fiction.

Looks like someone is trying to stir up an issue that's not the issue. Issues are weapons.

Bogus claims (noose, anyone?) that threat or harm has come upon a political opponent -- how do conservative react? Why don't they put an end to this kind of divisiveness and racist actions -- the usual crap thrown at conservatives.

I also will save a questionable email to text to inspect it and even though I know a bit about html, java perl, etc. there are lots that I can't see what they do - not even an ad ... so why are they sent? Not even a reference to a jpg ...
One other mystery - I always check the header before even saving the file to text but when I close the Vew/Options it asks if I want to save changes to the file - why is that Mr. Gates? ;-)

You pop your mail? I stopped doing that. I check mine at the server. I have it defaulted to text. If I can’t tell if I know the person, I check the header first. Then if I need to open it, I open it as text. Then I have an option of viewing it in HTML, if needed. Many of the exploits written now can compromise your system just by downloading to a pop account. I know there are safe guards available; but I would just rather not deal with it.

Pop3? Yep. Receive as HTML? Yep. AVG 8 free? Yep. - Living life dangerously! ;-)My guy was one of the original ISPs ever and filters some spam - but a fair amount still gets through but his virus checking is good - I've gone though several ISPs since but still pay him a few bucks a year to keep my original email (from 1993) and to use webmail on the road, etc.

IMAP isn't what you were suggesting was it?

No I will not back off and Grig is schilling for Obama with this thread post. Obama is an American candidate for POTUS, not a Canadian candidate, so do not tell us conservatives here in the U.S. we should take offense to a silly childish email sent up north.

I use webmail without IMAP. Receive mail as text as default format, they open up the html if needed.

I’ve read on CNET how receiving mail in html compromises Outlook just by popping. I’ve had enough trouble with hacking and viruses so I just disabled all my pop protocols.
