Daily Kos Founder: No Dough for O
Political machine ^ | 7/3/08 | Tommy Christopher

Influential blogger and Daily Kos founder Markos Moulitsas caused a first-class kerfuffle on an economy-class budget, announcing that he would be withholding his $2300.00 donation from Barack Obama's campaign until he sees some "good behavior." From Daily Kos: First, he reversed course and capitulated on FISA, not just turning back on the Constitution, but on the whole concept of "leadership". Personally, I like to see presidents who 1) lead, and 2) uphold their promises to protect the Constitution.

Then, he took his not-so-veiled swipe at MoveOn in his "patriotism" speech.

Finally, he reinforced right-wing and media talking points that Wes Clark had somehow impugned McCain's military service when, in reality, Clark had done no such thing. Markos goes to great pains to explain that he still supports Obama, but that he won't be anyone's "water carrier."

He also tries to downplay the importance of his donation (with a 739-word story on the most popular blog in the universe.)

I applaud Markos for not being a water-carrier now, but it makes me wonder where he's been this whole campaign.

This is not the Markos Moulitsas that I used to know.

I'm B Man and I approve this message.

“kerfluffle” is a gay word (speaking colloquially) and I’ll be glad when its rotation is finished.

What does he want him to say? "Workers of the world unite?" ..."From each according to his abilities, to each according to his needs?" ...."Religion is the opiate of the masses?"

The time for saying all that , including starting a withdrawal from Iraq the moment he took office, is long gone. If Hussein is smart, which is highly debatable, he will know that Kos and his pack of Rats wont stay home on election day come Hell or high water, and they won't vote for McCain either. At this point he has his sights aimed squarely at the Gun/Bible clingers.

Thankfully, the “clinger hillbillys” aren’t anywhere near as stupid as Team Obama thinks they are. They already heard him loud-and-clear and want nothing to do with him. In places where a charismatic democrat ought to be whipping McCain (Michigan, West Virginia, Pennsylvania and Florida) he’s doing no such thing.

Of Which he will not do well with either, he’ll do marginally better at best with both Fundamental/Bible Believing/Evangelical Conservative Christians, and with Gun Owners at most 4% net gain.

No doubt — B-HO knows full well he has the far left in his back pocket come election time. Sure, there may be a few Nader-voting types and self-proclaimed communists who might sit it out (or write in “Lenin” or whatever they do), but their numbers are negligible.

woo hoo - no official $2300 donation check, just spend millions to smear McCain - oh, wait, I must have them confused with moveon.org.

It's "kerfuffle," and the word will be around as long as James Taranto is blogging.

1st response to the article;

Subj: FW: Post Turtle

While suturing a cut on the hand of a Texas Rancher whose hand had been caught in a gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually, the topic got around to Obama and his bid for the presidency.

The old rancher said, Well, ya know, Obama is a 'post turtle'.

Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked, 'What is a post turtle'?

The old rancher said, When you're driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that's a 'post turtle'.

The old rancher saw a puzzled look on the doctor's face, so he continued to explain.

'You know he didn't get up there by himself, he sure as heck doesn't belong up there, he doesn't know what to do while he is up there and you just wonder what kind of an idiot put him there in the first place.'

;~)

Is a kerfluffle more series than a brouhaha?
Or does it take a few brouhahas to comport a kerfuffle?
We have a constitutional right to know, especially if it’s a gay term.

Markos won’t hold out for long. He has few principles. A Socialist whore, he won’t deprive his best socialist chance of anything.
