It's quite possible that this stunt will backfire, and that middle-of-the-road voters will be spooked by the messianic, quasi-religious atmosphere. People who would be IMPRESSED by that sort of thing are probably already in Obama's camp.

An example of the latter are the folks at Rolling Stone magazine, which last week ran a cover with a full page photo of the savior with NO TEXT other than the magazine logo. This is pure, unadulterated, mindless hero-worship.
