Cleaner skies means more global warming (Gasp!)

London, July 10 : For past three decades, Europe has been following the trend of saying goodbye to air pollution and smoky chimneys but a new study has shown that cleaning up the skies has allowed more of the sun's rays to pierce the atmosphere, contributing to at least half the global warming that has occurred.

Average air temperatures in Europe have risen 1C since 1980, which is much more than expected from greenhouse-gas warming alone.

For the study, Christian Ruckstuhl of the Institute for Atmospheric and Climate Science in Switzerland and colleagues took aerosol concentrations from six locations in northern Europe, measured between 1986 and 2005, and compared them with solar-radiation measurements over the same period.

The globe did not REALLY begin to warm up until the last 1/3 to 1/4 of the 20th century; AFTER atmospheric testing of nuclear weapons was halted.

Coincidence? Maybe...

So they admit the SUN is the leading contributor to higher temps. Definitely a homer simpson "DUH" moment.

Funny how the Warmists always use 1980 as a baseline year for measurement (conveniently ignoring the colder 1960s and 70s).

Nonsense! Anyone should know that clear skies allow earth's heat to leak off into outer space. That is why we have such heavy frosts on clear nights in winter and summer nights are cooler.

Overcast nights means no frosts as it traps the earth's heat in for a while.

Too many studies, one after another, many contradicting each other. The climate cycling between periods of warmth and cold is part of nature.

We would be better off devoting resources to adapting than trying to halt what is a natural process. If sea levels rise, then we build levies. If America’s breadbasket becomes a wasteland, then we will move it north. Of course, it is far from certain any of these will happen, but we need to be prepared if they do.

Can't we just build big domes over all the inhabited places on earth and then set the temperature to whatever we want?

Unintended consequences. Think of what a volcano does. It puts out massive amounts of particulate and sulfur into the atmosphere, blocking the sun and causing general cooling. It is interesting that when we put scrubbers on power plant stacks shutting down millions of mini volcanoes we started to see warming. So in a sense some of our warming is man-made if you consider eco-freaks men.
