Israel has hinted at a possible military strike to halt Iran's nuclear programme, saying it is the strongest country in the region and it was "not afraid to take action" against Tehran to foil its atomic ambitions.
"Israel is the strongest country in the region and has proved in the past it is not afraid to take action when its vital security interests are at stake," Defence Minister Ehud Barak said at a Labour Party meeting here on Thursday.

And now OPEC is warning the US to not attack Iran.
It has to be done sooner or later before Iran destroys a lot of stuff which of course we have to send people in to rebuild.

And now OPEC is warning the US to not attack Iran. OPEC had best start thinking in terms of protecting itself from Iran.

The reason that Israel is not afraid is that David not only downed Goliath but he cut his head off with his own sword.

Well, I agree with you about Israel, but I’m not at all sure that Barak, Olmert, Peretz & Co. are the guys to do it.

Hmmmm. Somehow I’d feel a bit more confident of those words if they were spoken by Bibi Netanyahu or Benny Elon and it was one of them that was Israeli P.M.

Well, I agree with you about Israel, but Im not at all sure that Barak, Olmert, Peretz & Co. are the guys to do it. He may be a political liberal, but Barak has extensive military experience in conventional, counterinsurgency, and intelligence roles. I believe he's the most decorated Israeli. Once the decision is made to go to war, he'd be a solid commander.

Yes, I’ve heard that, and I hope it’s true. What I chiefly know is that way he surrendered the buffer in Lebanon and we witnessed the sight of Israeli troops running across the border with Palestinians pretending to chase them, followed up by the Intifada.
The last Lebanese incursion under Olmert was a total screwup, too, but I guess Barak wasn’t involved in that one.
