Actually, Byrd is "just a fool" as well -- and probably well into the middle stages of Alzheimer's..

Lt. Gen. Odierno, Peterus's long time second in command in Iraq will be taking over, and Peterus will become his boss. Though it's not a done deal, Iraq is going well enough to allow the best mind in counterinsurgency to move to where he is most valuable -- and still in control of Iraq -- commanding the entire Mid East theater under CENCOM and — in particular — Afghanistan, where is the situation is back sliding and needs far greater attention than it gets now.
