McCain POW pal angers Muslims
Miami Herald ^ | 7-19-08 | MARC CAPUTO AND BETH REINHARD

Posted on 07/18/2008 4:09:31 PM PDT by Nachum

Riling Muslim leaders, one of John McCain's fellow Vietnam POWs defended the Iraq War Friday by saying, ``The Muslims have said either we kneel or they're going to kill us.''

''I don't intend to kneel and I don't advocate to anybody that we kneel. And John doesn't advocate to anybody that we kneel,'' Col. Bud Day added in a conference call with reporters arranged by the Republican Party of Florida on behalf on McCain.

Muslims and Arab-American groups quickly denounced what they described as the ''bigoted'' comments from Day, a Pensacola resident, Medal of Honor recipient and member of the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth attack machine from 2004.

''This is as close to racist as it gets. These are cheap street tactics,'' said Khaled Saffuri, who helped organize Arab outreach for President Bush's 2000 campaign but is now a Libertarian. ``Even if this is called a mistake or a slip of the tongue, it shows a bigger problem with racism. McCain and the Republican party should denounce this.''

I think Col. Day meant this as being one of those “if the shoe fits” things. The morons residing in this country these days are too sensitive. They need to grow up.

I really am really offended by these remarks by Muslim and Arab-American groups. Oh never mind, I am not allowed to be offended, only they are.

Either that or it shows a basic understanding of Islamic teachings and history of the past 1,400 years, including very recent history.

Hm. No bias there. Think I will side with the Honorable Col. Day on this.

It seems that when anyone ‘tells it like it is” in regards to Muslims, name calling and personal attacks are then carried out against the spokesperson.

Bud Day is right, of course. That is why the Muzzies are in a tizzy, they want their boy Obama and will not stand for any disagreement.

This racist baloney is a bit stale.

He’s maybe the only one from whom McCain cannot distance himself.

IMHO, the McCain campaign has just gained its moral compass whether they like it or not.

I see this as a stroke of genius, Obama now has to defend the muslims against the Republican machine.
we have been attacked by Muslims starting in the 70s, but it seems no one wants to acknowledge that.

It’s about time someone started telling the truth and speaking out in public about the Islamofascists and what their plans for America, Israel, the Jews and Western civilization are. They want us all dead and soon.

Islam is the end of the civilized world.

They’re nothing but a bunch of backwards, barbaric thugs and intolerant fascists of the worst kind.

Khaled Saffuri - I don’t remember any Muslim apologizing to Americans for 9/11. I remember Muslims happily jumping up and down in Palestine/Gaza. I remember some MUSLIM Saudi Prince blaming us for 9/11. I don’t remember any remorse from any Muslim or Muslim country. BTW, if I were you, I’d be too busy making sure that another 9/11 DOES NOT happen in the United States instead of whining about a few ill chosen words.

Actually I'm pretty offended. They should have used the most diplomatic language possible when discussing statements by a Medal of Honor awardee.

Else they make themselves appear to be disrespecting our heroes, warriors, traditions and customs.

Well, maybe not just "make themselves appear" ~ they did this so automatically and casually that it clearly demonstrated none of these pukes have any business in America.
