OBAMA Has Come and Gone - Report from Jalalabad Air Field
First Hand Account ^

Posted on 07/19/2008 8:17:19 AM PDT by Captain Shamrock
B. Hussein Obama has come and gone on his visit to Jalalabad Air Field in eastern Afghanistan. He landed about 1515 local and was gone by 1800, which is more than enough time for any Democrat to check the Natioanl Defense box, and he is now just as qualified as John McCain to speak on all matters related to Operation Enduring Freedom.
During his visit he toured the Task Force (TF) Bayonet 173rd Brigade (Sky Soldiers!) Headquarters and Tactical Operations Center (TOC).
Well, that's the big news from the front line fellow FReepers. Keep up the fight at home and we'll do our part here.
God Bless, Captain (Now Major) Shamrock

Sounds like he spent a lot of time gathering information from the boots on the ground.

How brave of him...a whole 3 hours!

How many soldiers did he talk to? How long of an interview could he get with the people on the ground and seeing what is really happening? He stopped for some photo ops and that is all. Hope Katie Couric got a good shot.

Enough so that his entourage could shoot about 300 campaign photographs.

That’s a pretty quick duck and run, even without any sniper fire. Makes him America’s hero, right up there with Hilarity.
Keep up the good work, Major. God bless.

Good report. I spent about 4 months at JAF after the extra Brigade was added...had a bit of overlap with the 173rd.
Best wishes for y’all. Did Obama have time to buy some bread? How about his detailed discussions with local commanders? Time in the Chow Hall? Did he have a chance to enjoy both aisles of the PX? Did he even have time to use a latrine?
Inquiring minds want to know...

Obama in Afghanistan for a grand total of 2 hours and 45 minutes. Wow, he's a quick study! He's surely qualified to claim foreign policy and military expertise now.
Thanks, Major, for the report from the ground. It'll be even more interesting to see how his embedded journalists report this "event" after reading your post. Thank you for your service, sir.

Upon being interviewed after returning to the safety of the United States, Obama said I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base.
