European Union foreign ministers say they will not support a military strike on Iran but want more talks to try to resolve worries Tehran might be developing nuclear weapons.

British Foreign Secretary David Miliband says it is now up to Iran to respond to global powers and EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana after talks in Geneva on Saturday.

What a bunch of morons. THEY are within range of Iran’s missiles. If they had any brains or balls they’d take care of Iran with or without US and Canadian help.

I’m sure if we rule out military action a priori, the Iranians will respond in good faith. /sarc

Of all the nations it has gobbled up, why the E.U. had to take on the personality of France, defies explanation.

Same old Europe; would rather plead and kiss up to their enemies than stand up to them.

Maybe this time we should just let them learn the hard way.

Too bad the mullahs don’t get mad at Europe. Easy win for Allah there.

Good, we don’t require their assistance, and therefore they need to shut their mouths and keep out of everything from now on.

Might be developing? God, these people are naive.

“...it is now up to Iran to respond to global powers...”

Uh-huh, sure. This wait will end with a bang.

And you’re spot-on about it being like 1939. Only this time around Russia isn’t prostrate and poor. It has Europe by the nuts; Gazprom has given the Kremlin incredible power over Europe.

We, the Israelis, perhaps one or two others, will be going it alone.

The EU CAN’T support a military strike. Don’t have the troops, doctrine, equipment, will or the money. All those social programs, don’t cha know.

I have always wondered why NATO was expanded in 1990 after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

It should have been pared-down to 3 countries - UK, US, and Germany.

We share common culture, etc... with Europe, but now NATO is 30 members and we have no common enemy (or at least that is how the EU feels). We can’t even coordinate NATO in Afghanistan.

What is the point of maintaining the fiction?

That's my take on it, as well: the EU wouldn't have supported the war against Hitler's Reich, either.

Unfortunately, all of the good words for people like that are now getting so much use that they've been rendered all but impotent.

Going to consult OED for appropriate, and INfrequently heard substitutes for "despicable", "cowardly", and "pantywaist".

If it wasn't for Israel I would be content to have the USA pull out of the whole area and let the limp-wristed Euro-wimps take their medicine.

Just let the muslim savages wipe them out as they sit on committees agreeing that America is uncouth and not sufficiently sensitive to the demands of Islam.

What the heck good is the EU or NATO when they won't even fight to save themselves?

I would love an explanation too. All we usually get from Washington is some empty sentence about "supporting our allies."

I believe Israel will take out Iran's facilities. And if Obama wins, Israel could well stand alone in the aftermath. This in turn could easily lead to the prophesied war of Gog and Magog.

Maddening. These are supposed to be experts in the art of negotiation. Even if they never intend to follow through, to limit their options publicly like this from the outset is simple incompetence.

What I see happening here is a desperate preference of process over result, a rather quaint faith that as long as there are negotiations there will be no war. It's a nice bit of theory, and the only thing that might counterbalance it is all of recorded history. Idiots.

We would end up getting dragged into it like in WWI and WWII.

Usually we clean up after them as well as spending the lives of our troops. Honestly, half this insanity is because of all the colonizing they did centuries and decades ago.

One more thought: If we do abandon Israel and thus precipitate WoGaM, it goes without saying that we’ll have confirmation that the end of this era is near. In addition to that, however, I shudder to think of the divine wrath that we could bring on ourselves by abandoning Israel. The gauge of our moral rot is already redlining, but this affair could well push us completely over the edge of God’s patience.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this aspect.

Everything adds up to the end times. It’s a wonder the Lord has let it all go on this long. Things are going to accelerate after Jan., 2009. Or sooner, because Israel will not risk their security on an Obama presidency.

I agree, Unkus. It’s amazing how the geopolitical pieces of the prophecy puzzle have shuffled into place over the past couple of decades. Twenty years ago, although I definitely believed that the endclock was ticking, the mechanics of how it could all wind down were somewhat abstract, speculative. After all, twenty years ago it was hard for me to imagine how a scenario could realistically evolve in which Russia would lead a massive coalition of Arabs in an attack on Israel. Now we look around and it’s not hard at ALL to see exactly how it is VERY possible in the very near future.

It hasn't.... It took on the personality of the nation its headquarters is located in, Belgium. The confusion lies in the fact that the personalities of France, and Belgium are largely interchangeable...

I have always wondered why NATO was expanded in 1990 after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

NATO, as a worthwhile organization, lost any effective meaning with the collapse of first, the Warsaw Pact and then the collapse of the Soviet Union itself. The real question should have been "Why didn't NATO disband in 1990, after the collapse of the Soviet Union?"

The first part answers the question implied in the second sentence... The end times is a part of the Lord's plan, and thus, any evil which is necessary for the implementation of the plan would be allowed...

I think Obama will be elected and Israel will not trust him to help or support them. Israel will hit the Iranian nuclear sites. Muslum Sleeper Cells in the US will activate and hit us. Who knows what will happen but Obama will be a disaster in waiting. The USA will no longer be a viable nation under Obama and the Democrats.
