EL PASO -- Police have hot filed charges against a Northeast resident who allegedly shot a man in self-defense.
The police department's Drive-by-Shooting Response Team (DSRT) was called to assist with a "shots fired" call at the 9500 block of Iris at about one Saturday morning.
Officers discovered a 19-year-old man had been shot in the ankle and forearm at a residence in the area.
An investigation revealed the victim went to a party at the residence and engaged in an argument that escalated into a physical confrontation, police officials said.
Police said a resident of the home grabbed a handgun and fired several shots at the victim in and attempt to protect his home and family.
The victim was transported to Thomason hospital and a further investigation is underway.
19 is not a teenager, it is an adult.
It’s both.

Agreed Lx, big difference between a teenager and a man. A teen could be anywhere from 13-19. Once you hit 18, you’re a legal adult.
nineteen
;)
I think I read this story awhile ago. The shooter was an illegal. Any mention that they will be sending him back over the border?
To the creeps at Handgun Control, he still has 6 years of "child hood" left.
When he turns 26, they will then consider him an adult hood.
As Mrs Brady says, "Only hoods should have guns!"
In honor of the growing nanny state I recommend that the shooter be forced to take a class in marksmanship. Center mass, center mass!
More range time required. Not so much to ensure stopping the bad guys, but to limit the damage to the others in the area. This was at a party. The defender was lucky that other guests were not hurt or killed.
But that doesn't make his actions criminal, just a bit irresponsible and dangerous since you are more likely to NOT stop the bad guy, and he may then stop your or yours..permanently.
