Obama's Kumbaya falls flat in Berlin
WorldNetDaily.com ^ | 7//26/08 | Star Parker

The headline on the website of German magazine Der Spiegel about Barack Obama's speech in Berlin: "Huge crowds left with mixed feelings."

Obama turned out 200,000 in Berlin. However, CNN's Candy Crowley, reporting from the event, went on in her report to her TV audience about an absence of "euphoria."

As Sen. Obama went global with "yes, we can" and "change we can believe in," he left at least some in the huge crowd in Berlin scratching their heads. Perhaps these Germans, out to hear what all the excitement was about regarding this unusual American presidential candidate, were looking for leadership and substance rather than kumbaya.

What they got was the global version of "There is not a White America and a Black America and Latino America and Asian-American America – there is the United States of America."

Obama spoke not just as a "proud citizen of the United States but a fellow citizen of the world."

His message: "The walls between races and tribes, natives and immigrants, Christian and Muslim and Jew cannot stand. These now are the walls we must tear down."

Obama: I'm ready to take Training Wheels off me!

Obama insists he's trying to "reassure" Americans he's ready to be POTUS by conducting his week-long staged circus. Obama posed for pictures in Afghanistan and Iraq and shook hands with Sarkozy -- I feel so reassured! As if that's not enough, he drew large, cheering crowds in . . . Germany. In fact, there hasn't been this much excitement in Berlin since Hitler.

Displaying his "post-partisan" credentials, Obama also insists his Berlin speech was not in any way campaign-related, which certainly explains why he's using it to raise campaign cash.

And while we're on the subject of Obama's "historic" speech, does anyone remember anything he said that actually rates historic or memorable? In his "groundbreaking" speech, he boldly revealed that:

* The Cold War ended.

* The Berlin Airlift was successful.

* There are still challenges out there.

* World cooperation is good.

* There is now peace in Northern Ireland.

* People have a tendency to hope for a better future.

If the purpose of Obama's trip was to get Americans to vote for him because German and British citizens prefer him over McCain, the problem here is that, just four years ago, the Germans and the Brits preferred Kerry over Bush by similarly huge margins. In Germany, a Globescan poll showed Kerry beating Bush by a 64%-percent margin, 74% to 10%, and the Brits preferred Kerry over Bush by a 31-percent margin, 47% to 16% (h/t: Peter Kirsanow, NRO). In fact, that same Globescan poll of citizens of 35 countries showed Kerry beating Bush in 30 of them, with Bush out-polling Kerry in just 3 and tied in two. With so many foreigners preferring Kerry, Bush was a shoo-in for re-election.

Always with its ear to the ground, the New York Times implied the past week had been 'disastrous' for McCain because of all the foreign policy training Obama was getting by going to so many places to get his picture taken. "McCain is having a disastrous week," Times writer Elisabeth Bumiller quoted Ed Rollins as saying. McCain's week was so disastrous, he gained ground in four swing states while Obama was giving speeches overseas. Before McCain's disastrous week, Obama had a 49-44 percent edge over McCain in Colorado; now Quinnipiac shows McCain disastrously in the lead. McCain shrunk Obama's double-digit lead in Minnesota to two points. The same poll shows Obama losing ground in Michigan and Wisconsin. And if people are lying to pollsters the way they were lying to pollsters during the primaries in Ohio, Texas, California, Massachusetts, etc., McCain is solidly in the lead. Now Obama only needs to ride a tank while giving speeches to Euroweenies -- that'll do the trick.

And while the Always Objective And Impartial Democrats who run the broadcast networks and almost every major "newspaper" were busy reassuring each other that Obama had a fabulous week, then comes Obambi's Landstuhl-gate scandal to ruin the mood. This must be part of McCain's disastrous week.

At first, Obama had his flacks tell the media that his visit to the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany was cancelled because it would be "inappropriate" to meet and thank the troops for their service since his non-campaign-related trip was being funded by the campaign. Then, the next morning, he changed his mind and had his flacks tell the media that he cancelled because the Pentagon made him do it. "We learned from the Pentagon [Wednesday night] that the visit would be viewed as a campaign event," said the campaign in a statement. Then it turns out that the Pentagon had told Obama ON MONDAY that he could visit Landstuhl, but without any press or any reporters with him -- in other words, pretend you're McCain. But Obama decided he couldn't show his love for the troops without cameras and reporters present, so he nixed the offer and now is trying to blame the Pentagon.

Come the first Wednesday this November he's gonna wish he were McCain.

Anyway, that's...
My Two Cents...

His message: "The walls between races and tribes, natives and immigrants, Christian and Muslim and Jew cannot stand. These now are the walls we must tear down."

Obama's pathetic effort to feed off of Reagan reinforces the idea that Obama's just a pet chameleon.

Obama seems to think all nations, cultures and philosophies are the same. There has never been and never will be - a global village. To the contrary, most people still believe in the old adage that fences make good neighbors and that national identity, expressed in the form of cultural, language and religious differences is a statement of their national consciousness. People are not ready to tear down walls. People are not ready to march into the Leftist future of a "universal brotherhood." Obama thinks the world needs to stand together as one. For Americans attached to the concept of American exceptionalism - which is the credo America is the greatest nation in the world, that is a disturbing thought. Obama seems ashamed of America. In contrast, Americans express pride in their country and this month, they just celebrated its 232nd year of its independence. Obama's view of a borderless world is not one Americans want to see being realized anytime soon.

On the contrary, people want more walls to go up. The walls in Northern Ireland and Israel are not going to be torn down in my lifetime.

Obama does not believe in world brotherhood. He openly associates with preachers who preach hatred of white people.

The Berliners once listened to an obscure nobody who suddenly rose to prominenence, and who made vague promises based on nothing but empty slogans.

They know better.

From military friends, a letter from young soldier:

Subject: Ltr from Afghanistan

Note home from Afghanistan Date: Wed, 23 Jul 2008 09:54:05 -0600 First report from Afghanistan .
XXX, this was sent to us by XXXX cousin...........

I don't know each of your personal political convictions, and apologize if anyone finds this offensive. I thought it was important enough to share. This is XXX first hand view of Senator Obama. Hello everyone, As you know I am not a very political person. I just wanted to pass along that Senator Obama came to Bagram Afghanistan for about an hour on his visit to 'The War Zone'. I wanted to share with you what happened. He got off the plane and got into a bullet proof vehicle, got to the area to meet with the Major General (2 Star) who is the commander here at Bagram. (Arv comment: Bagram is a major USAF base in north central Afganistan, I recall.)

As the Soldiers were lined up to shake his hand he blew them off and didn't say a word as he went into the conference room to meet the General. As he finished, the vehicles took him to the ClamShell (pretty much a big top tent that military personnel can play basketball or work out in with weights) so he could take his publicity pictures playing basketball. He again shunned the opportunity to talk to Soldiers to thank them for their service.

So really he was just here to make a showing for the American's back home that he is their candidate for President. I think that if you are going to make an effort to come all the way over here you would thank those that are providing the freedom that they are providing for you.

I swear we got more thanks from the NBA Basketball Players or the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders than from one of the Senators, who wants to be the President of the United States . I just don't understand how anyone would want him to be our Commander-and-Chief. It was almost that he was scared to be around those that provide the freedom for him and our great country.

If this is blunt and to the point I am sorry but I wanted you all to know what kind of caliber of person he really is. What you see in the news is all fake.

In service, XXXXX Battle Captain XXXX American Soldier

Star Parker BUMP!

He does not seem to grasp that the beauty of freedom is its respect for differences and creation of conditions, legal and political, that allow them to exist, flourish and provide benefits to all. In fact, politicians with agendas to "unify," who think they know who and what everyone should be, are invariably those who threaten freedom.

We are guaranteed several things: Nobama and his totalitarian thugs will never leave us alone, and he will attempt to steal every bit of freedom and every dollar he can to carry out the mission of infesting this country with Marxism for the “common good,” as defined by fascist bureaucratic brown shirts and their jackboot messiah.

Obama: I'm ready to take Training Wheels off me!

That's funny. I was thinking he had sort of a childlike Michael Jackson naivete concerning the world and peace and "perfect harmony".

Obama seems to think all nations, cultures and philosophies are the same.

I disagree. He WANTS them to be the same. He chooses to remain ignorant of human nature, differing values, cultural differences and most importantly he does not, in his heart, recognize national pride, borders or languages.

He believes that the world should be one giant country. With expanding welfare for the "poor" and ever increasing taxation to create a level world.

The man is more dangerous than Marx. He has centuries of guilt (although not from me) backing him simply because he's "black".

He isn’t black. That is what makes him more dangerous. Black is defined as Native African. Dark pigment doesn’t equal Native African. His biological father was Arabic African.

Fine points. The world sees him as black and he defines himself as such. He claims he is African-American (that most atrocious of insults to Americans) and he looks it. That is enough for a vast majority to accept him as such.

Will he get reparations for slavery?

Now THAT would be the ultimate irony.

I'm all for reparations. African-Americans need to pay the United States for letting them come over free of charge, and getting free food and shelter for the first 250 years after Europeans settled N. America.

True, there was grinding and dehumanizing slavery. But hey, we fought a bloody war to free them, and now it's time for them to pay us back.

P.S. How many of those African-Americans would REALLY want to go back to Africa now?

In regard to walls being torn down, he is referring in reality to security walls throughout the world - including the one being constructed on our southern border and Israel’s.

If Obama is so hot to tear security walls down, he should start with disabling the alarm system at his Chicago mansion. I don’t recall if the mansion has a wall around it. The lawn is assuredly not open for picnics - even for beloved peace-making neighbors as Bill Ayers.
