A man who shot and killed two parishioners during a children's play at a Tennessee church yesterday attacked the congregation because of its outspoken socially liberal and gay-friendly beliefs, police said.
The 58-year-old unemployed engineer accused in the Sunday morning attack at the Tennessee Valley Unitarian Universalist Church, was driven to bloodshed in part by his "stated hatred for the liberal movement" as well as his hatred for gays, said Knoxville, Tennessee, police chief Sterling Owen. "We're certainly investigating it as a hate crime."

In this case, Liberals will have to alter their view and favor the Death Penalty in this case while Conservatives will remain consistent and favor the Death Penalty for this murdering POS thug.
"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
I agree with posters 2 and 3. And why is it a barf? If the chief is telling the truth about the note (and no reason to believe he’s not, as of now), that’s the way it is, and this nut can’t be blamed on a leftist ideology. Nuts come in all flavors, and some of them are going to have loony ideas on all sides. Deal with it.
Are liberals now a protected class or is it because these Unitarians are “gay-friendly” that this is a hate crime?
Being pc requires so much twisting and turning. If you’re a conservative, you can just say “execute murderers” and you’ve covered every contingency. This guy’s a murderer, period. Execute him.
They will attempt to play this up as such as much as possible a such when the truth is, this was simply a diluded. depressed individual who snapped and became a murderer.
It has nothing to do with conservatism or traditional values, despite the upcoming best efforts of the MSM to the contrary.
In the mean time...
He also said he was mad that his well fare was about to be cut off.
He’s awfully committed for a man who will soon be having LOTS of homosexual “relations’.
I would love to see exactly what he said.
Could be a liberal disguised as a conservative in order to give conservatives a bad rap.
One can only hope!
Nothing proven, but it sure fits together as plausible. And it should be condemned as thoroughly here as some of us would like moderate Muslims to speak out against their terrorists and terrorist ideology.
Just a matter of time before it’s an SKS used for something like this.
Anyone standing in a churchyard, post office, workplace, school or anywhere in the USA is be a protected class and should not have to fear being shot by a POS Thug.
This guy is no more a true constervative than Timothy McVey was. Conservatives don’t commit acts of terrorism. I won’t believe this until the killer’s actual letter is released. It could be the sheriff is a liberal himself and is saying these things to smear conservatives.
As I understand it, Eastern Tennessee is just chalk full of Liberal Sheriffs.
How is this a hate crime? It is an attrocity and a vengeful act, but the people he killed and aimed at weren’t homosexuals or members of a protected class. Christians in and of themselves are not protected by hate crimes legislation.
Painting 666 and inverting crosses and stealing baby Jesuses aren’t considered “hate crimes” when churches are vandalized.
His anger, from this excerpt, appears to have been with church leadership which taught acceptance and celebration of sinful activities. So it could be construed as a difference of opinion in religious doctrine.
If a Baptist speaks out (non-violently) against the Catholic Church, is he guilty of hate speech?
Killing the innocent is always wrong.
I don’t care what the guy hated, he took a gun into a peacful gathering and killed in a cowardly manner.
