Fourteen years and numerous judicial reviews have passed since José Medellin was sentenced to die after confessing to the brutal gang rape and murder of two teenage girls in Houston.
That's long enough, state officials say. It's time to carry out the sentence.
But defense attorneys, and an unusual coalition of federal officials, including no less than the attorney general and secretary of state, say if his Aug. 5 execution is not stayed, so Mr. Medellin's case can be reviewed one more time at the behest of the International Court of Justice, Texas will be rushing to judgment and endangering Americans abroad.
"Put simply, the United States seeks the help of the State of Texas," Attorney General Michael Mukasey and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice wrote Texas Gov. Rick Perry in a letter released by defense attorneys.

No such thing as a World Court.
What a bunch of dunces. By my count in 162 hours, 25 minutes and this should all be over.
Who do these people think they are? The day Texas is ordered by the Feds to follow directives of a “world court” is the day we need to say adios to the Union.
Texas Courts derive their power from the people and are not subservient to any foreign court. Kinda like an elected Sheriff.
States agreed to share some power with the Feds in joining the union, but never agreed to have their courts ruled by foreigners, who have no standing in creating the States in the first place.
If the Feds “win” and stop the execution, it is time for Texas to succeed from the union.
What Branch of Gov. is the World Court according to our Constitution? Go Texas.

We need to put 100% of Nafta on hold, 100% of U.S. visa’s for Mexican’s on hold and 100% of U.S.-Mexican cooperation on hold, until we have a treaty with Mexico whereby Mexico acknowledges that Mexican nationals convicted in any state of the United States will be held accountable to and punishable under the laws of those states, whether or not the punishment conforms or does not conform to what is permitted in Mexico.
In other words, Mexico needs to formally acknowledge that some of our states have the death penalty and that any of its citizens that commit a crime in the U.S. may, may, be subject to that penalty and either Mexico accepts that or we have no basis of accepting any Mexican traveling to the U.S., for any reason.

Certainly you must realize that you're making so much sense that it will completely elude the traitors in Washington which make up our political elite.
Just fodder for the International stage. No one actually believes that Texas will suddenly up and say:
“Oh yeah. You’re right. We’ll stop the execution so we can debate execution protocols with the World Court.....”
Endangering Americans abroad? Those who sneak into other countries and commit crimes?
Those Americans?
Why do we have to choose?
Fly them to DC and deliver them directly to congress, the supremes, or the White House, along with a bill for whatever it has cost Texas to try, convict, maintain, review, and transport them over the years.
Tell them they can have the keys when the bill is paid and that if a single one of them ever returns to Texas the state will sue the US Government, in world court, for dereliction.

Am I dreaming??? I thought this went to the Supreme Court last year and they told the Bush Administration to get the hell out of Texas’s way.
What amazes me are the horses rear ends Bush has hired over the years....RINOS doesn’t even sum it up! These are gutless swine, grovelling in the face of the World Court and the opinion of Mickey Mouse nations like France for Gods sake. No wonder Condolezza has been so willing to sell out Israel over the years. Hell, she doesn’t seem to have much problem selling out the US, the Constitution and the victims of grotesque crimes. And we’ve expected this broad to stand up for the American people!

Not having had my evening coffee, there is so much hemoglobin in my caffeine stream that perhaps my memory fails me - wasn’t the traditional punishment for treason drawing and quartering?
