It is apparently a nice gesture, but your concerns are mine:
“Well, I dont think this event - while it is a nice gesture - is OPSEC-friendly. You are identifying a large number of soldiers who probably have security clearances - prime targets for foreign intelligence agencies. Maybe Im just paranoid, as I am stationed OCONUS (Germany). But still.”

This sort of exposure was denied in the past. No way the NSG would allow it......there were enough surrogates peddling data to FORNATs trying to access information on the security services personnel years ago.
(That includes news reporters.)
