Alaska's Palin Faces Probe Star GOP Governor To Be Investigated For Abuse of Office By JIM CARLTON July 31, 2008

ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- When Sarah Palin was elected governor as a Republican outsider in 2006, she didn't just take on an incumbent from her own party. She took on Alaska's Republican establishment.

Ms. Palin vowed to clean up a long-cozy political system that had been sullied by an FBI corruption investigation. She endeared herself to Alaskans by making good on her reform promises and showing homey touches, like driving herself to work.

Now, one of the bright new stars in the Republican Party has suddenly become tarnished. The state legislature this week voted to hire an independent investigator to see whether Ms. Palin abused her office by trying to get her former brother-in-law fired from his job as an Alaska state trooper.

Interesting. Has she pi$$ed off too many Republicans, so that they’re willing to jump in bed with the Dems to try to get rid of her?

Lots of money involved. This Palin lady is messing with their taxpayer funded rice bowl, the professional political weasels, Rs or Ds, don't like that stuff.

Don't ever trust any politician regardless of what initial they put after their name.

Always keep in mind that most of the professional pols choose which party to belong to based not on ideology, but on what can get them ahead in the business of politics.

Do you think for one minute that if Trent Lott were a native of Massachusetts he wouldn't be a Democrat or if John Kerry were a native of Mississippi he wouldn't be a Republican? They choose their party based on what was best for their careers not out of any belief.

We worry about ideology. Those clowns only worry about getting in office and what it takes to get there.

The vast majority are weasels who say and do whatever it takes to get elected. It can be a very profitable career choice as guys like Stevens have shown. Finding the increasingly rare exceptions is what we should be worrying about.

She could turn this around by saying it was her duty to protect her woman and a child against an abusive man who happened to be a cop.

You don't ‘test’ a tazer on a 10 year old because the boy requests it. Sounds like this jackass should be in a cell regretting every arrest he made over the past years.

“obviously the fact she reported the ‘05 incident when it happens bodes well for her...”

Yep....

Curious...the marxist media and the left even scream when we use tasers on Gitmo Terrorists...but a taser to the ten year old nephew of a republican gets a pass.....LOL

Sarah Palin’s just had a new baby boy (April 2008). He was diagnosed with Down Syndrome, too, so I think it’s in the best interest of the child that she not run for VP.

The ex-BIL sounds like a creep who has no business with a gun and badge.

You said it best.

She is smart and tough, but when she opens her mouth, she sounds like the woman cop in the movie “Fargo”.

There's a lot of places in the country where that plays well:)

BIL was suspended for a week.
Said he did use the tazor on the 10yr old son but because he wanted to test it the other allegations were more he said/she said.

Looks like she was just defending her family from a ex BIL who could have said comments in anger or whatever.

She did not use her position from what read and comprehended (quickly read) to get him fired.

Yep.

She must doing things right for those out to find something so wrong.

If IRC (30yrs ago) it was common for the roads to break up every year when the snow melted.

So if still true not much the Gov can do about that.

I posted an article here at FR on Mrs Palin last evening..She is a good lady and ran on a ticket of cleaning up the corruption in her State of Alaska- which she took steps to do..Read her biography at Wikipedia, and you can decide..

As for the x-BIL tasering a 10 year old kid and getting a 5 day suspension- shows his lack of judgment and maybe a bit over the top in the anger department..Mrs Palin had every right to fire him..This ‘invstigation’ is par for the course in an election year and should not stop Mrs. Palin from being on Senator McCain’s short list...It is hardly worth reading about compared to the 7 felony charges that Ted Stevens D-Alaska was charged with in the news yesterday...That, from Pelosi’s clean as a whistle DimRAT Party....

She didn’t fire the BIL trooper. She fired the Commissioner. The Commissioner claims that Palin pressured him to fire the BIL, which he wouldn’t do. Palin says she never pressured him to fire anyone. She says they just gave him information about the guy’s troublesome behavior.

IMO, the comissioner should have been fired if he lets guys like that carry a badge. The trooper Union is powerful in the state.
