But a story in the Honolulu Star-Bulletin raises serious questions about Obama's postracialism. The paper describes an Obama appearance at Unity '08, "a convention of four minority journalism In this view, the following deeds are insufficient to balance the ledger between America and the descendants of slaves: the Civil War, the ratification of the 13th, 14th and 15th amendments, Brown v. Board of Education, the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the continuing practice of racial preferences. associations":
"I personally would want to see our tragic history, or the tragic elements of our history, acknowledged," the Democratic presidential hopeful said.
"I consistently believe that when it comes to whether it's Native Americans or African-American issues or reparations, the most important thing for the U.S. government to do is not just offer words, but offer deeds."
Exactly what Obama is advocating here cannot be determined, but it seems to be something of an endorsement of the idea of "reparations for slavery," which is usually taken to mean cash payments.

I have yet to see anything that would show either that Obama himself has any slave ancestors or would be entitled to reparations. His father was African, not African-American. His mother was a white American whose roots go back to the American Revolution. I don’t see where the slavery background comes in.
Yeah, sure it will—after they’ve gotten houses, cars, furniture, educations, etc for nothing. This is BS. You will see White riots if this comes to pass.
Why didn’t the great messiah speak at length about slave labor and reparations to his adoring mob in Berlin?
So what happens if a person is half-white, half-black? Do they have to pay themselves? Reparations for slavery is a silly concept.

Yes, and do white people who can be traced to a slave anscestor qualify? What about Obama who did not descend from any African-American slave. Does he qualify? What % of DNA qualifies you? Who’s going to pay for all this DNA testing or is it going to be based entirely on skin color. If so, does Michael Jackson qualify since he is now white? :-) This is so asinine.
I would support one way tickets to the African nation of their choice to any who feel they are entitled to reparations.

I thought I read somewhere the Obama’s ancestors owned Sharpton’s.
He doesn’t want us to forget the bad things in this country’s past, yet he doesn’t seem to mind throwing his bad associations under the bus and forgetting about them.
I tell ya what with all the welfare and handouts over the last 50 years or so I think we have paid it off ten fold
A reporter needs to ask him the question directly: “Do you support reparation payments to the descendants of slaves, or generally to African-Americans?”
Seriously, if these people ever try to impose any costs whatsoever on myself or my family for things of which we are innocent, I will calculate and deduct the cost from my taxes, and I would hope many others would join me in that efffort.

My family emigrated in 1950. We were emancipated in 1863 as well. By the Tsar. I’ll pay reparations just as soon as I get that check from the Russian government.
Obama is an example of a person who received an education but didn't learn anything.
Any American taking this bribe money should be required to give up their citizenship and repatriate back to the African tribe from which they came!
