Pelosi Adopts Global Warming Tactics to Squelch Debate
08/02/08 | Reaganesque

Posted on 08/02/2008 9:00:23 AM PDT by Reaganesque

For years now, we have been told by the man-made Global Warming crowd that "the debate is over" and that we all just need to shut up and do as they say "for the good of the planet." It was/is a highly unscientific, dictatorial and small minded attempt to eliminate scientific and other kinds of debate on an issue that Liberals around the world feel is of supreme importance. But, as is becoming more and more clear, their concern for the issue is rooted more in their desire to use the issue as a tool to gain more political power in the world than it is out of a concern for the environment.

This tool has worked very well so far so it is only natural that Libs would attempt to use this "the debate is over" tactic elsewhere. So, it is no surprise that yesterday, Nancy Pelosi, "leader" of the House Democrats, deployed this weapon in her all out assault on Republicans and George W. Bush. With national and local polls all signaling that the American people want the US to step up drilling for our own oil domestically, Speaker Pelosi, faced with the prospect of having to debate this point in open session, declared "the debate is over" and closed down Congress, shut off the lights, cameras, microphones and even tried to kick out the media that was there so no one could see what was going on.

And so we see that, in this new age of Democratic leadership, the debate is indeed over. Not only is global warming off limits from discussion, but everything Libs hold dear, including their nominee for US President are totally off limits to the point where the Dems believe they have the right and the responsibility to silence the opposition by any and all means possible. This totalitarian reflex that they have is on full display now and the voters of this nation have a very clear choice to make. Do they empower more of this totalitarianism, or do they go with a party that has, in the past, let them down?

Not an easy choice. But, even if the Republicans are still weak at the knees (and their actions yesterday seem to signal a possible change.) that would still be better than leaving such arrogant, power mad, tone-deaf, elitist, egotists who think only of their own politics and political welfare in charge. Question is, will the American public see it that way? Given current gas prices, I'm thinking they just might. We shall see.

Pelosi was put in office to do the peoples work. These politicians forget this. It is not her right to squelch debate that the American people want. She is not Queen of this country, she is not a self appointed dictator. Pelosi needs to be shut down by the people.

So sick and tired of the Democrats.

Hysteria about global warming which has turned out to be a hoax. (Al Gore and company want the rest of us to sacrifice while he tools around in his private jet, his automobiles, and has a $1,200 a month electric bill while we the people are suppose to walk and use candles? ...NOT)

Light bulbls... the freaks in Cambridge, MA employed all the school children to sell flourenscent spiral shaped light bulbs. They were in hysterics about regular light bulbs. Turns out those replacements are full of mercury. Who's responsible should a toddler lick the light bulb his/her mommy accidentally leaves on the coffee table? Mercury poison is deadly.

Latest hysterical fit comes from the anti-smoking zealots at the University of Wisconsin. According to those maggots... drunk driving accidents, arrests, deaths are up because smokers are going to neighboring states to smoke in bars. I contend that their numbers are hogwash.

That is an attempt to * even the playing field * which was done here in Massachusetts by Cambridge and Somerville... Sniff... they were losing customers...

For the past 4 years I have told people on this forum that the SUN is RESPONSIBLE for climate change. I was right.

Additionally, I have pointed to 2, 35 year studies in 2001 UC-Berkeley and UI-Urbana/Champlain which stated that second hand smoke cause NO HARM to anyone.

Now because of the Democrats' hysterics we have to worry about toddlers with mercury poison. We're not getting the energy we need.

D.R.I.L.L. now or take over the Mideast and get America the oil it needs. Americans are the ONLY real producers on the planet. ... my opinion... and backed up by the fact that all of the important inventions are American... anyone can produce a knock off.

Pelosi is a vacuous ditz, and any politician who uses the global warming lie to keep the American people down is an evil idiot. Start refining shale oil, and drill, drill drill. It’s a matter of national security and continued freedom.

I don't want to debate anything with liberals. I don't want to convince the left to adopt better policies. I just want them to drop dead. Period.

Good post: Speaker Pelosi, faced with the prospect of having to debate this point in open session, declared "the debate is over" and closed down Congress, shut off the lights, cameras, microphones and even tried to kick out the media that was there so no one could see what was going on.

Prancy Nancy got a little too fancy and exposed her real desire. La Douche wants to be Il Duce, but she'd be well advised to remember how he ended up (upside down, hanging from a rope like a pinata).

Nine Percent Nan needs to be told that means 91% are NOT with her "leadership" of Congress into the Netherworld of single digit approval. Dictatorship requires a bit more support, Nance...

This issue at 91% to 9% is NOT Republican against Democrat; it's American against Anti-American and Anti-American ain't selling.

Prancy Nancy the 9% wonder just made an Obamaesque blunder, but she's too arrogant and stupid to anticipate the thunder.

When cornered with a lie - then remove free speech.

The debate RAGES on that “global warming” is a farce.

High prices for gasoline?

It's Nancy's fault.

She, alone, would not allow a vote on DRILLING!

Freep her office!
You have to send Nancy’s email to:

I wish Ben Stein would have the guts to do another movie about global warming like he did with evolution.

Co2 Carbon Credit/Global Warming is a lie to conceal the truth: There is 2 Trillion dollar a year short-fall and growing every year for Medicare and Social Security as the Boomers retire.

Many think of Boomers as old hags, too feeble to do anything if benefits renigged on. Modern medicine has helped this generation look and feel younger. One way or the other, these benefits will be paid.

Democrats have been stubbornly dishonest about this matter and further of course have ruined 1/2 the economy with too many entitelments for voting blocs that can longer be paid for. The law of cause and effect at work.

The other portion is Housing, also Democrat scams. Republicans get some blame also however. Act conservative and carry the message to the people, that means advertising to the common man INCLUDING online!

I have family members voting for Obama talking about ‘what a bastard President Bush is, we cannot afford oil for heating this winter and will freeze!’. Meanwhile, they are asking me for money for bills and I will help but I am educating them.

Democrats will likely keep the House even if McCain wins. Next four years are going to be very ugly and in that time Republicans had better let Americans know how we can fix it first-off and then advertise so the common man understands how things work in an economy. It’s easy enough to overlay Red-Blue states with failed economic states and see which party has no clue how to govern. Then, a message about JFK of ‘ask not what your country can do for you’ would resonate. People want the hand outs now because they are getting desperate and the Democrats are known for entitlements. Few realize what must be done to actually pay for those entitlements.

Arrogance and power lust personified in the speaker’s actions indeed. Unfortunately this epsiode will be forgotten by the voters come election day.

In a way though, one must admire Pelosi’s toughness in support of her cause, misguided as it may be. I do not remember Hastert or Frist displaying such conjones over any causes that are held near and dear to the hearts of conservatives.
