My wife is a research chemist who holds seventeen patents of real in-use chemistries. Several of those patents are international. She is employed by a european company. Our personal information, finances, and medical records are gleaned by her employer every six months. Private investigators have interviewed our neighbors and her former collegues about how she's "been doing?"
If private industry is so hawkish regarding trade secrets, I can only imagine what a DOD scientist has to endure. This story should do a real diservice to the recruiting efforts of our government research labs. It's a shame.
