Registered Democrats substantially outnumber registered Republicans here in Westmoreland County, yet Lynn Swann solidly beat Ed Rendell in 2006. One reason is government jobs, which includes everything from school teachers to the water company. If you are a registered Republican, you may as well not even apply. Another reason is that voters registered as Republican seem to have their registration lost or cancelled for superficial reasons.

BDS (Bush Deraingement Syndrome) is no longer an excuse for anything.

In this case the NYT used Virginia as an exemplar of party registration changes by Republicans.

That's the sheerest nonsense ~ again, there is no registration by party in Virginia. It is an unobtainable number. It doesn't exist.

The NYT is not regurgitating anything ~ using Virginia in a discussion of political party registration is ignorant and uninformed!

I hate to break this ego buster to you, but the world and the nation doesn’t revolve around Virginia.

The RNC wanted McCain. This is the result of that.

True, and it fits their behavior pattern of spinelessness. Why bother with the GOP when they are so much like the opposition?

Back to the article ~ notice that the FIRST example of his contention ~ loss of Republican registration numbers ~ is Virginia!

You read the article, right?

Oh, you didn't read the article ~ just blowing off steam.

Or are you upset that I slammed your boy Jim Webb for being a favorite of the residual KKK voters in Virginia? Yeah, that's it ~ recalling that the Washington Post campaigned against George Allen's mother for being Jewish, Webb swept into office with ease snapping up the KKK antisemitic voters like crazy.

BTW, the "near in" suburbs of Arlington and Alexandria have always been Leftwingtard bastions of stupidity. There's been no change in their voting patterns since the Great Flood.

In WI, we know for a fact that students registered twice for 2004, once at their campus address and once at their parents’ address. They also voted twice.

Union and government workers, including teachers, usually know that they better be registered as donks, no matter how they vote, if they want peace in the workplace.

This time, with a liberal Republican running against a green, resume-less, naive progressive, many of those donk registrations will vote R.

The NYT is regurgitating what is already known. Go ahead, stay in the warm and cozy womb of denial.

Yep. You're right. It's the end of the world.

Quick! Blow your brains out and show people you're no fool!

For years I’ve been thinking about ditching the Republican Party. This may be the year that I finally pull the trigger and register as a “decline to state”. The Pubbies are no longer the conservative party, they’ve been proving that since 2000.

It’s called “Operation Chaos.” The only poll that matters is the one in November.

Once again, Virginia is not the center of the Universe. Go throw a tantrum in the corner.

Speaking as a registered Democrat (who registered Dem so I could vote for Hillary in the Dem primary), the apparent shift away from Republican registration may have more to do with Rush and Operation Chaos, than anything else

And my question to the Times is when was this count taken, during the primaries when many Republican’s crossed over to vote for Hillary?
