What a load of tripe. I am willing to bet the study was conducted by people either too repulsive or too socially inept to procreate.

White Christians having that third child (or more) gets in the way of the Muslim demographic takeover the Left seems to yearn for. Why would that be? After all, Muslims are seemingly against most liberal causes (like equal rights for women & gays). The answer, quite simply, is that Muslims are more easily led than freethinking peoples. If an Imam can convince someone to be a suicide bomber, convincing them to pay higher taxes should be a piece of cake.

This is really amazing, considering that during some of the most prosperous decades in American history, most women *never* entered the work force and the average family had more children than it does today.
Oh and where’s the study showing the much larger carbon footprint for a woman in the labor force than being home with her children? Where are the libs with that info? (crickets chirping...)

With few exceptions, those having more than two or three children are the very poor who are not working anyway.....
Do you have a source for that?

I wouldn’t say *few* exceptions. I know a fair number of families with more than 3 kids and they’re all hard working productive members of society.
That being said, the government needs to stop paying welfare for babies once the women get past one. Cut off the cash flow and you’ll see the number of welfare babies drop like a rock.

This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve read in a long time. This is why Obama has a chance of becoming president. The ignorance is unreal.

Note this is Australia where, even though fertility may higher than in the past 25 years, it still isn't high enough. This commission is not impressed; they say, almost in those words: "We need tax revenues now; to hell with the future".
To: WhyisaTexasgirlinPA
The article you linked states:
In 2002, immigrant women (legal and illegal) from the top-10 immigrant-sending countries had 2.9 children on average, compared to a fertility rate of 2.3 children in their home countries -- a 23-percent difference.
It also states that average number of children decreases with educational level. There are many reasons for that (average age of marriage being one), which is the subject of a different post. However, educational level is not a sole determinant of employment. There are many, many women with PhDs who stay home with their children, and many women without a high school diploma working 80 hours a week.
So once again, where is the source for your assertion that "With few exceptions, those having more than two or three children are the very poor who are not working anyway....."?

I meant to say after the quote that the article you linked doesn’t compare Immigrant fertility to native-born fertility. It only compares immigrant fertility in their native countries to fertility in their host country.

“The higher fertility of less-educated immigrants means that a much larger share of births to immigrants are to women with little formal education than is the case for natives. This is important because education is the best predictor of income, poverty, use of means-tested programs, and a host of other measures of social well being. For the children of immigrants it means that a very large share may grow up poor. These findings also have implications for likely educational attainment of the children of immigrants. Those born to less educated parents are themselves at higher risk for dropping out of high school”
