That's certainly significant enough that women (and mother's of girls) should be told before they decide to get the vaccine. For the most part, that isn't happening.
The law firm running this ad doesn't share the context however, so to me, it looks like they're just chasing ambulances and trying to get some settlement with Merck.
Probably. But they still give enough facts that someone might be interested in doing some additional research or asking pertinent questions of their doctor before getting the vaccine for themselves or their child. That's a good thing.

There were several others similar in nature from Michelle Malkin and Michael Fumento, among other writers that use factual documentation to support their position. Did PG&E pollute? Absolutely. Did they handle the situation wrongly? Absolutely. Did they deliberately poison people? That is a bit more doubtful. Did their action result in massive health problems justifying a several hundred million dollar litigation lotto for the law firm that took Brockovich's case? Not likely.
Body parts for medicine. Yeah, they’ve worked hard to keep that quiet. And while we’re at it — remember when they wanted to partial abort infants with their brains intact? I believe it was for research. It’s easier to study fully intact brains.

LOL NONE of them. That was always an interesting moment, when they learned that they could catch STDs thru oral sexual contact. In TX we taught abstinence. Our only reference to condoms was failure rate—we didn’t teach out to use them, etc. I would not have taught what many schools in other states appear to require.

Yes, I've heard the ads. But this article contains information that may inspire people to do some further research before getting the vaccine. That's a good thing.
Brockovitch’s article makes it seem like they’ve exposed some sort of cover-up.
I guess I didn't see it that way. I read it as a warning to people not to be bowled over by the 'positive press' so to speak, i.e. don't let your governor get away with requiring this vaccine for all girls.

Brockovich is just another scam artist.
The onus is on you to prove that. ;)
As far as I have learned it was not tested for boys, and that is why it has not been approved. Perhaps testing has now or is being done. But that was my first question. Why only girls?

Because the strains of the HPV virus that Garadasil protects against account for something like 70% of cervical cancer cases (the number two cause of cancer-related deaths in the world for women and the number one cause of cancer-related deaths for women in the developed world) and 90% of all genital warts. According to the CDC, something like 80% of women will have contracted at least one strain of HPV by age 50 (though most strains are harmless and don't even lead to symptoms)
Some strains of HPV can cause throat cancer and penis cancer, but these kill many fewer people.
So, it makes sense to focus on testing this vaccine on women because, due to the cervical cancer connection, HPV is much more deadly to women than men (the majority of men with HPV don't even exhibit symptoms).
That being said, I'm sure the vaccine will end up being approved for men.
Considering what seems to pass for journalism these days, maybe they teach things differently now.
I was taught there was a difference between views and facts. Distorting or leaving out important facts isn't simply presenting a different view. It's being dishonest about the subject and trying to mislead people.
I welcome people presenting their views. I welcome people explaining their interpretation of the facts and trying to convince me of the validity of their views.
I very strongly like people trying to mislead me, even if they think they are doing so for a worthy cause. A huge amount of damage has been done to our society in the name of what people considered worthy cause.
They whole anti-gun movement is people distorting facts in the name of what they feel to be a worthy cause.
Everyone is welcome to their own opinions, but they are not welcome to their own version of the facts.
If you truly want to help people, you won't do so through lying to them to get them to believe in your cause.
If only the author of the article showed the same kind of integrity.
Yeah, it just seems that there should be a two pronged approach, girls get it from boys (usually).

I do find it rather odd and downright disturbing how Gov. Perry of TX, and others, were so quick to try and make this vaccine “mandatory” for all young girls. That part just doesn’t pass the smell test.
If I lived in an area where it was mandatory, I would be furious. It’s very scary when parental rights are eroded in this way. I have relatives who don’t give their kids any vaccinations. I personally think they should, but it’s not my right or the government’s right to make that decision.
That being said, if the vaccine is proven safe, I will probably want my daughter to get the vaccine.
I’m guessing that by the time this vaccine is proved safe , if ever, my grandkids will be looking at getting it, because its track record is not so great up to this point and I’m not using my daughters as guinea pigs for Merck.
They’ll learn the importance of getting regular PAP tests, which will do fine in detecting precancerous changes.

HPV 16 and 18 cause the majority of cervical cancers. This vaccine will save millions of women and men from getting cancer. I know a lot of conservatives see this as encouraging sex for teenagers, but that wrong IMHO. 80% of sexually active people have HPV of some strain. Will the girl’s future husband be a virgin when he marries her? Might he lie about his sexual history? As with all vaccines, there may be some unfortunate side effects for a few people, but HPV is a slow motion epidemic. BTW, boys need vaccination too since they can serve as carriers who spread it among women not to mention that they can get cancer of the penis, throat, mouth, etc. We are just now seeing much greater numbers of men and women with throat cancer caused by HPV 16 & 18 that they caught 30 years ago.
