At approximately 11 AM local time, three American Christians were arrested in Tiananmen Square. The three arrested are Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Washington DC based Christian Defense Coalition; Brandi Swindell of Boise Idaho, National Director of Generation Life; and Michael McMonagle, of Philadelphia, national Catholic pro-life activist and founder of Generation Life.
The same three Americans were also arrested yesterday while holding a banner and speaking out against China's religious persecution.
While in custody Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, said, "We were in Tiananmen Square publicly praying for the people of China when police forcefully dragged us across the street."

Dumb things Americans do while traveling abroad.
Good for them, exposing the evils of that country as Christ told us to.
What brave men.

I would hardly call it brave. The American protesters in China are oversized children, knowing full well that with all of the publicity of the Olympics and by virtue of circumstance of birth as American citizens, nothing will happen to them and they can act as petulantly as they please. Non-Americans protesting will be subject to administrative detention and up to three years breaking rocks in a labor camp, that is even if the government decides NOT to charge them with any crimes.
Ping.
Petulantly isn’t a term I’d apply to these people.
I’ve many, many a time protesting, mostly abortion clinics and a few strip clubs that opened up in my town, and I wouldn’t call standing up for one’s beliefs like that “petulant.”

You probably belong on another website.
They were arrested where a bunch of college kids were gunned down in cold blood by their own govenrment 20 years ago. These 3 had and have no way of know what the chicoms will do to them or with them. But they did make a fine point in showing how the butchers of Bejing really have’nt changed at all; they are still dictatorial, cowardly thugs.
I applaud their faith and are simply amazed at the attitude of some on this forum towards those that are willing to lay their faith on the line.
Well, those who can act should act and did act. What's the problem with that?
Amen.
Stupid is as stupid does...
It is absolutely amazing. The standards around here are really slipping.
What I want to know is why only 3? Every American over there should be down there praying on that bloody square.
You are wrong there. Around the world, when Americans have broken some law of other nations, they have been arrested, jailed and sometimes imprisoned.
Brandi and the pastor had no idea what might happen to them, they know that they are truly in the middle of evil so there is great courage and for the right reasons. Don't think believing Chinese haven't taken note of this incident and don't think it won't have a positive impact, which we'll probably never hear about...
But Voice of the Martyrs (www.persecution.com) just might have a follow up since they go into China quite often standing with Chinese Christians.
