The Democrats' acrimonious primary battle came back to haunt Hillary Clinton yesterday, a day before she sets off on her first solo campaign swing for Barack Obama, with John McCain using footage of her attacking the Democratic candidate in a new campaign ad.
The ad, which was released on the internet, features a number of Democratic leaders - including Obama - offering praise for McCain. But only Clinton, who is the closing speaker, goes so far as to take a jab at Obama, in footage culled from one of her primary rallies.
The ad surfaced a day before Clinton is to step in as Obama's chief cheerleader with a campaign appearance in Nevada today. She is to travel to the pivotal state of Florida next week.
The appearances are intended to keep up the momentum while Obama is on holiday in Hawaii.
In the new ad released by the Republicans, Clinton is shown saying: "I know Senator McCain has a lifetime of experience that he will bring to the White House and Senator Obama has a speech that he gave in 2002."
The damaging footage is the realisation of Democratic fears at the height of the contest that Clinton's no-holds-barred attacks on Obama, with repeated questioning of his experience and readiness to serve in the White House, would provide ammunition to the Republicans during the presidential contest.
A spokesman for the McCain campaign said yesterday: "Hillary Clinton was making a strong and valid argument for why John McCain will be the next president."
"In this case, we couldn't have said it better ourselves," Tucker Bounds said in an email to the Guardian.

This is simply the ONLY thing Hillary was good for.
All in all, I may have been a good strategery to just let Obama....be Obama....for a while.
I think a lot of us already knew that buyers remorse may set in once everyone realized that a good stereo system isn’t always the most important option.
That was not a slur. It was a sarcastic comment, worthy of Hillary, but it was not a slur. Why does everything said about Obama have to have a racial component?
Who’s got a link to the ad????
“This is simply the ONLY thing Hillary was good for.”
BunnySlippers strikes again.
it was not a slur, she pointed out fact, and the libs hate that, furthermore i don’t think it is going to haunt hillary
Obama is a black racist, surely it will come back and slap him in the face. Racists are no good people.
Unearthed? More like never buried. Everyone knew that she was making a campaign commercial for the Republican nominee when she said those words, whether she wanted to or not. For McCain's team not use her comments would have been tantamount to campaign strategy malpractice. It was only a matter of time.
I'd like to see these commercials featuring Democrats endorsing McCain to fade at the end to John McCain's face, and he says - right into the camera - I'm candidate John McCain, and Hillary Clinton and I approve of this ad."
That would make Dim heads explode all over the country!!
scroll down page and enjoy!!!

guess UK MSM is on Obama’s side too? why is this coming back to haunt Hillary! but not Obama? Read today that the McCain YouTub sites are now getting more hit than Obama’s, quite a turnaround.
Exactly, this has been floating around on youtube for a long time. Tons of Obama material out there. Too much for all Obama's horse and all of his men to put him back together again.
Awesome ad - the best yet! And that’s saying something. These are some good ads man...
Good stuff. McCain is starting to catch on fire with some of these ads. I would not be surprised if McCain starts polling 5 points higher than Obama.
Yeah, well they had better get it on something besides the net if they want to get results. IMO, net commercials are preaching to the choir.
I’ll concede that it does get it mentioned in the news, but that is not the same as running on TV.

Words to say loud and often!
