McCain does not deserve vote if he stays negative (barf alert)

CLARK LAKE — As a lifelong Republican and former Republican prosecuting attorney, I am very disappointed in John McCain.

In 2000, I voted for John McCain for president because he was an independent, nonpartisan Republican.

I could not then tolerate George Bush because he clearly lacked the judgment and wisdom to be a president who could be respected around the world. Time has proven this to be true, to our national disgrace.

By authorizing his staff to run television ads trying to link Sen. Obama to Britney Spears and Paris Hilton smacks of desperation. We do not need another desperate president like George Bush who was desperate to get us into Iraq just so he could be re-elected in 2004.

If John McCain reverses field to tell us why we should elect him, I will reconsider. But cheap political stunts like linking irresponsible Hollywood personalities to a candidate for president will not gain the support of serious voters.

The last time a Republican candidate for president tried to claim that a Democratic opponent was lacking in experience was in the Nixon/Kennedy race. Nixon claimed Kennedy was too Catholic and too young. But once in office, Kennedy prove to be a smart president who saved us from a nuclear confrontation with the Soviets over Cuba and made sure that the Berlin airlift stopped the Soviet effort to crush West Berlin.

As a lifelong independent Republican voter and officeholder, I can only hope that John McCain will abandon the advice of the negative Republican attack machine and tell us why he is most qualified to be our president.

Yet another Dem "Lifelong Republican" organized letter to the editor. This guy was our local prosecutor before being elected out of office, roundly condemned for having a Napoleon Complex and being ineffective.

The strange part is that Kennedy was, according to this writer, President during the Berlin Airlift. This comes as a surprise to many people, who assume that the Airlift ended in 1949.

I supposed that the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor too?

Yeah. The Berlin airlift thing just shows how freakin’ stupid and ignorant these schmucks are. It's just astonishing to see this stuff from folks who feign intelligence.

If the man has that little knowledge of history, good riddance.

The fixation on negative campaigning is a fraud.

Any intelligent person when deciding any question makes up a list of pros and cons. To state that a voter should only know the positive spin about a candidates is asking the voter to pick the candidate who has the best liars on his or her staff.

That comment literally makes no sense. Bush 43 could see his father Bush 41 go to war in 1991 and he lost his re-election attempt. So why, know that, would Bush go to war “just so he could be re-elected in 2004”. I can stop reading there. This writer makes no sense. He may be a republican but he’s really just an elitest.

Is this guy up in years, could it be dementia? The airlift thing wasn’t even close, missed it by a decade.

What a moron. Totally clueless about history. The reason the Soviets challanged us was because Kennedy was so weak. The Soviets never feared Kennedy and they didn’t back down because of Kennedy.

These phony “I am a lifelong Republican, but I’m supporting Obama” letters appear in our local NYT-owned newspaper every week. You can tell by the language they use that someone at DNC headquarters or some union local is behind them. Likely that the writer never voted for a Republican in his or her life.

The strange part is that Kennedy was, according to this writer, President during the Berlin Airlift.

There was another Berlin crisis during Kennedy's time in office, and a brief second airlift. The Russians figured he was a patsy after the Bay of Pigs disaster, and closed off the land route to Berlin. So Kennedy airlifted supplies until they relented and let the trucks and trains back through.

I remember it well, because I was serving a three-year term in the army at the time and was extended by three months by Kennedy, who was trying to look tough and impress the Russians after that earlier fiasco.

That doesn't mean that this guy still isn't a RINO jerk.

Oh yeah, my favorite part:

Negative is the new racism in the 2008 elections.

The racist label won’t stick, so now we will be treated to “too much negative advertising”...

Fact of the matter is, those ads worked, especially the Hilton and Brittney ad, for some reason that one really drives the Obamatons crazier then normal...
