CARACAS, Venezuela — At least 38 Warao Indians have died in remote villages in Venezuela, and medical experts suspect an outbreak of rabies spread by bites from vampire bats.

It always amazes me how the wire services and media outlets always word headlines to sensationalize stories. Only when you dig in do you find it was due to rabies. Last year almost a million people died from mosquitos, but alas we’ll see no such panicky headline on Fox or AP. Not sexy enough.
