USA: Texas execution violates international law

The execution of José Ernesto Medellín Rojas by the state of Texas is a violation of international law, said Amnesty International today. "It undermines the authority of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) which had ruled in favour of a stay of execution."

If you are not familiar with this case ---- I see this as a HUGE VICTORY for State's Rights --- The so-called "INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE" has NO enforcement authority over U.S. States !!!

In a six - three decision (Justices Breyer, Souter and Ginsburg dissenting) the Supreme Court held that even though the ICJ’s Avena decision “constitutes an international law obligation on the part of the United States,” (emphasis in original) the President lacked the requisite authority to compel States to comply with it.

Amnesty International hasn’t had any credibility for the last twenty to thirty years. The United States has been criticized by it over and over. I’d say it can go straight to hell, but they’ve been operating from there for at least twenty years.
