Russian forces occupy Georgian city of Gori
(39 mins ago)
Russian forces have occupied the city of Gori and Georgian forces are fortifying positions near Tbilisi to defend the capital, the secretary of Georgia's security council, Alexander Lomaia, said.
''Russian forces are occupying Gori. Georgian armed forces received an order to leave Gori and to fortify positions near Mtskheta to defend the capital. This is a total onslaught,'' he said.
Mtskheta is a Georgian city 24 kilometers from the capital.
The title should have been “Russian peace-keeping forces occupy Georgian city of Gori” (sarcasm).
"Remove your troops from Georgia proper or they'll be destroyed in place by a rain of American cruise missiles."

How about we just give a few A-10 pilots some target practice?
A-10's lack sufficient range to be of service yet.
Now if we move a few squadrons into Turkey....
L
How does Turkey view this conflict? I have to believe they
are not exactly eager to put their a$$es on the line for
Georgia. If they are, Turkey has a perfectly serviceable airforce and navy.

You crack me up. Lots of bluster here. Glad you guys aren’t in charge.
There has been no declaration of war and these are sovereign states (Georgia and Russia), right? So the Russians should thank us if we go in to aid our Georgian allies in capturing and killing this recent infestation of lawless bandits who have clearly stolen Russian army equipment and uniforms and are using it for illegal and diplomatically indefensible purposes. I mean, I wouldn’t want rogue soldiers to start using US army ID’s and start raising havoc invading a country that we hadn’t declared war on...
Right?
(Yes, this is a Constitutionalist double-jab...)
LOL!
Almost at the same time as my post!
We're already "spread too thin" and we know it and they know it and now you know it.
We had a 1,000 man force there and I wonder what they taught Georgia.
Think a bunch of stinger missiles would come in handy in Tblisi.
If Obama had only been able to talk with Putin, none of this would have happened.
Sounds like the Georgian troops bugged out of Gori without much of a fight.
The Georgians probably have war-gamed the Russkis coming down from Ossetia and have found their optimal defensive position is where their going to right now.
We've got loads and loads of A-10's right across the border..

Gee, I love it when strangers talk about me from a position of obvious superior mentality. Bluster indeed......you surely do not know anything about me. I know what makes the grass grow and so does anyone else that’s spent time at the Benning school for boys.
What would YOU do uber-smahty-pants? I’m guessing sit by and watch and talky-talky while “doing” nothing just like is gonna happen. Won’t you feeeeeeeeel all warm and fuzzy....
Guess some people never learn from history, eh Neville? I suppose you could go and ask Pooty what he’s doing and then come back with a “He’s just taking back his ‘Sudetenland’....no big deal to us...no threat to us.”
Calling for “condemnation” a la John McCain and the rest of those “in charge” will surely work out for the soon to be not so free People of Georgia. Oooooo.....condemnation.....how scary. What’s next? UN sanctions? Sooooooper scary sanctions......triple dog dare ya sanctions?
Georgia already would be a NATO member State if “I were in charge”....not for talky-talky bargaining “{we condemn you and put sanctions on you” purposes....for collective protection purposes to once again stop the expansion of the Russian empire. If “I were in charge”, Georgia would have been a member state back in 2006 when they petitioned NATO or at least in April 2008 when NATO said “Hey, we’re gonna make you a member state in the near future...just fill out these forms in triplicate.” without giving the Russians the time to plan this shi’ite out and execute it before that had finalized.
Mark my words...Ukraine is next on the Russian’s list.....they’re the next ones in line for NATO member status as they were also given the go-ahead in April. I’ll expect you call for condemnation talky talky then too...without a military response....and then to sit by while nation after nation falls back into the Union...afterall, they’re not attacking US....and when NATO member nations have their borders violated by Russia, I’ll expect you to call for restraint and more talk.
“No no Mr. Pooty poot....we condemn your aggression against Poland.” “Mr Medvedev.....you take Germany and the Czech Republic back and we’re gonna impose saaaaaaaaanctions on youuuuuuuuuuuuuu.....”
