Yes indeed

Put it up on YouTube then make a thread. I guess put a profanity disclaimer.

Yup.

"...and tell the 2,000 man US Marine detachment there to lead the Georgians into battle?

Love it! No friggin' doubt that they'd kick the Russkies out too!

Fred Thompson is on with Mark Levin making the same statement.

Russia won and we lost.

Levin had other thoughts on the matter but did not press the issue with his friend Fred.

You think we'd send in unarmed ships in front of a naval blockade?

Yes, you think we'll have to fight our way in?

Do you remember it was just like this for Serbia in 1999... “Russian black Sea fleet is sailing to Adriatic” “Russia will protect Serbia”

Some times all you can do is talk though and make a symbolic show of force. That sticks in your craw, so you make plans for next time.

NATO is moving forward with plans for independence for the Serbian province of Kosovo, a move that can only be understood in the context of an appeasement of the Islamic world.

Only is a strong word. Russia obviously views it as a shattering of the Russian sphere of influence. According to Michael Totten, the Kosovars themselves appear to despise the Wahhabis and the contempt is mutual. What some people are overlooking is that since the crumbling of the Ottoman Empire in the 17th century, the principal threat to the English-speaking world (ABCA - America, Britain, Canada, Australia) has not been Islam. Imperial Russia's never-ending attempts at territorial expansion have been met repeatedly by European and American rebuffs before, during and after Communist rule. The threat from Islam is negligible compared to the threat from China or Russia.

Sorry you just quoted it. Warships was by inference. You think we'd send in unarmed ships in front of a naval blockade?

Interesting comment, because that is essentially what we are doing. We are launching a military aid mission over the protestation of Russia into a war zone that they control.

This makes that war zone a very dangerous place for them, and we have soured the milk so to speak.

To avoid a direct confrontation, they will have to withdraw back to the North and this opens the country back up.

If they don't, accidents are likely to occur, and one will be enough.

The end game is that we did not back down and we went in at our own risk to help a friend. If no shots are fired, then that's a good thing. If they want to play, we have asset nearby and they know it, and now they are wondering if we will really follow through, because they cannot be sure with Bush.

Invading a country of 4 million people. I mean honestly, we used to worry about the Soviets rolling the Central Plains of Europe in 3 days from Russia to the coast of France.

Outside of ICBM’s which are checked with our ICBM’s, Russia is a failing power that degrades further by the year. This is an inconsequential lashing out that needs to be responded to, but not taken too seriously. They are not rolling up the Central Plains any time soon. They also will not take Georgia...the price would be a Cold War they cannot win.

Hits the nail on the head, the US would have done the same thing if Russia meddling on Mexico or Cuba.

They also will not take Georgia...

They are not interested in taking just Georgia. They want to start by getting them all back into the fold and ejecting out form of democracy. That's what is killing them.

This is essentially a act of desperation, and they are holding on, but with a time limit. They need to get democracy off their doorsteps.

Move 2,000 US Marines on either side of the pipeline and make a splash about it. The Russians will wilt like week old roses.

“Sad, but true. Our ally has been attacked by our enemy. What have we done? We have wrung our hands and are sending Condi Rice to Paris. What happened to withdrawing our ambassador and his entire; freeze all the Russian assets in this country; close the Russian embassy, consuls and other offices; tell the Russian ambassador to the UN and his staff they have 24 hours to leave the country; send a fleet of WRSK vessels to Georgia with equipment for their army and tell the 2,000 man US Marine detachment there to lead the Georgians into battle?”

You don't understand, we don't have the money to fund our own government. We desperately need money from Russia, Saudi Arabia, China, and Japan to meet our existing obligations let alone starting another war. The US economy is in sad, sad shape. Why do you thing the Treasury Secretary is going to China every other week to beg for money?

Underestimating your enemies can and often does prove fatal. If you believe the propaganda regarding Russian military spending then Putin spent his money well clouding the true expenditure. That was new and top notch equipment I saw rolling through Georgia not run down heaps like Saddam had. Did you ever consider that Putin might prefer a hot war to a cold one, those moron prostitutes we keep sending to Washington have done all they could to cripple us economically and militarily. Georgia will fall followed by Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria. He has a large enough force in the area to push right through and lock up the oil and gas that Europe will need to survive the winter.

The interesting thing to me is that if they would have embraced democracy and liberty and kept a free press, they could have been accepted by all of the Western world. The final unifying principle could have been fighting radical Islam.

But instead they play the failing game of opposing the US at every step as if they could win that game. Look at them. A literal and miserable failure. The whole Warsaw Bloc gone and the strong members in NATO (EGermany, Poland, Czech,Hungary)...and hardly any of the former Republics of the old empire of the Soviets wants to ally with the losers, Russia.

“Georgia will fall followed by Ukraine, Romania and Bulgaria.”

I haven’t kept up with Romania and Bulgaria. But I will gaurantee you that Russia will not militarily defeat the Ukraine. The reason is that it would be too high a cost in lives and equipment. I would stake a year’s pay that Ukraine will not fall.

Georgia could simply because it is so small and only has 4 million people. They could blitz right through it. But the long term cost would be immediate emergency Nato membership for Ukraine. Booted out of the G7. Covert ops all over peripheral Russia including islamics. Iran’s nuke’s bombed and more aggresive actions diplomatically and economically against Russia. They can’t defeat the West, they are a desperate lashing out former power.
