Kathy Griffin: A Funny Thing At Walter Reed
Washington Post ^ | 14 Aug 08 | Tom Shales

Posted on 08/14/2008 10:08:18 AM PDT by PurpleMan

Here was a mission fraught with peril: Allow chatterbox comic Kathy Griffin into the rehab wards at Walter Reed... and let her make jokes for -- and about -- amputees learning to cope with the use of prosthetic arms and legs, or with life in a wheelchair.

Before Griffin even arrives at Walter Reed, we hear an officer warn her that she should go easy on the jokes attacking President Bush, as well as to tone down her raunchy language. The hour is rife with bleeping, as one forbidden word after another hits the cutting-room floor.

Good on her for going and entertaining.

Bad on the Walter Reed talk police telling her to "tone down her raunchy language." (Army morons.) "These men are obviously entitled to their irreverence." Amen.

Good on her for having an hour "...rife with bleeping, as one forbidden word after another hits the cutting-room floor."

Her trip to Iraq two years ago was good for the troops.

Our soldiers are big boys and girls.
They can take it (and more).

Those staff officers weren’t worried about the troops, they were worried about their careers.

Kathy is a funny lady but she is way to irreverent for me to take in large doses. Kudo’s to her for visiting the soldiers at Walter Reed, I’m sure they loved it.

My son is stationed at Walter Reed. He spends a LOT of time on the wards with the guys. He’s done three tours in the Persian Gulf and understands their issues, He works hard to get them prefered assignments and other goodies they’ve more than earned, if they elect to remain on active duty and are physically able he makes that happen as well. He says that there are a lot of celebs that visit that you never hear about including pro athelets and teams, (the NY Giants for one). Soldiers like this make this old soldier proud to have worn the uniform.

It’s tough to believe anything Shales writes. The guy is a mouse.

Shales still couldn't resist a dig at the troops, implying for the umpteenth time that their mission was never accomplished.

Jerk.

Kathy Griffin is a rabid leftest who hates President Bush, but I think she is very funny. Good job to her for sucking it up for the troops.

Kathy Griffin is the stupidest leftist I know of. She has said that Jimmy Carter is the best president the world ever and Clinton was the second best.

That being said, she has gone to Afghanistan and Iraq several times, she entertains at Army Hospitals around the world and is most of the time when talking about celebritiees, just plain funny. Crude, but funny. She at least isn’t one of those who slams the President and military while not doing anything to help our troops. She is one I can believe when she “supports the troops, but not the war”

He says that there are a lot of celebs that visit that you never hear about including pro athelets and teams.

And there lots of non-celebs that open up their hearts . . . and homes to our wounded warriors. Please check out my 'about' page to learn more about the folks from my hometown.

Oh sure ....celebrate raunch!

This sad excuse for a woman rates right there with Whoopi and Rosie...

..she's bottom of the barrel coarse, and while I appreciate her willingness to 'entertain' the troops,

...I can't help but wish the days of Bob Hope were back...

..That man was funny, kind and entertaining without resorting to crude, obnoxious behavior.
