At his first public appearance for Barack Obama, former Vice President Walter Mondale today told a group of campaign volunteers they will confront "trash ads" and subtle racism aimed at the Democratic presidential candidate.
During an event with about 50 seniors at Obama's state campaign headquarters in St. Paul, an audience member asked Mondale why the race between the Obama and Republican John McCain was so close when polls show a large majority of Americans are dissatisfied with GOP policies.

This has been the plan all along ... say that “history” indicates a sure win for the Democrat, and then when it fails to happen, say it “must be” racism. This is also true of the academics who keep coming out to say that, based on history, “all the indicators” point to a huge Democrat victory in the Presidential race. They know damned well that Obama is a terrible candidate who will lose, but they want to be able to use the race card and say that it must be racism because “history” says the Dem should have won.
Maybe Mondale would like to list Obama’s qualifications to be President besides the fact that he’s of half-African descent.
I’m waiting.
