Finally an article that puts a common sense perspective on the recently released projections by the US Census Bureau. According to the projections by 2042 46% of the population is non-Hispanic White,30% Hispanic,15% Black, and 9% Asian. No room for multiethnic Americans.

The Bureau uses the Confederate one drop rule. If you have any non-white ancestors, not matter how small a percentage, you are no longer White.

I have three Mirish kids. My parents were from Mexico and my wife's parents were from Ireland. All my kids are fair skined. Two have black hair, two have green eyes and one is also blond. Yet they are all "Hispanic" and presumably qualify for affirmative action. If my kids marry white persons will their children also be "Hispanic?"

How about a person who has a White Hispanic parent and a Japanese parent. What racial category do they fall under?

This is all ludicrous.

Human nature being what it is, no matter how few their numbers, whites will never qualify for affirmative action.

The Bureau uses the Confederate one drop rule.

LOL! This is very true.

The announcement was pretty meaningless, and probably was actually intended simply to confuse.

A few years ago I said half in jest that as Americans, we’d all end up brown. Looks like it’s coming faster than I thought. Lest I be labeled a racist bigot by any lurking dems, I have two adopted black grandchildren, and one Hispanic grand child.

I have an American-Mexican buddy (I say American first because even though his last name is Spanish, he’s a real American, a lot more than any white liberal). His son by his first marriage, except for the last name, is as “white boy” as they get. So, is he “Mexican”, or “Mexican American”? By the “one drop” rule, yes, but unless you knew his name, you’d never be able to pick him out. My next door neighbor’s daughter is the same way, only with an Anglo name.

No, you are the White devil. I once sat in a graduate school class and one of the students said that she often felt ashamed that she was White. I sat their in disbelief.

Don't make these guys heads explode!

I have a good friend whose dad is Mexican (American) and his mom is Korean (he met her while stationed there). He looks Filipino but has a Texas accent. His wife is white and his oldest son is fair skinned, his middle son is darker skinned and his daughter is fair skinned with freckles and slightly Asian eyes.

I have another friend who is Thai (born in Oklahoma) and his wife is white. Their son is fair skinned and blond with Asian eyes.

Ahhh, I was wondering about this. It's as if there were no such thing as intermarriage. That's not to say I am not concerned about the flaunting of immigration laws, they need to be enforced.

I have two left-wing friends who pretty much blame all the evil in the world past and present on whites. As you would expect they are 100% Scandinavian.

As one who comes from an amalgamation of four differing nationalities (Polish, Irish, Slovak, and Russian) I know that Americans are a very diverse bunch. My grandparents while speaking their native tongues (two were born in Poland), made it a point to speak English and viewed it as a sign of pride and acceptance in their new home. I get the sense that pride is what is lacking today. The notion of multiculturalism is eating away at our society like a cancer. All Americans need to understand that we are just that, Americans, regardless of color or creed. For if this lesson is not relearned we face the risk of balkanization on a grand scale.

I see it happening already. I live next to the city of Trenton, N.J. which is 60% black, 35% hispanic, and 5% white. The city's boundaries are divided by race. I see no assimilation or inter racial couples. It is truly divided by language, customs, and self interests. While growing up the city had it's ethnic neighborhoods, but those neighborhoods were not a barrier to assimilation and intermarriage, which happened to a large extent. You are not finding this today in average American cities among working class people and it is a ticking time bomb.

Isn't it time we quit obsessing about race and ethnicity? America has successfully integrated millions of people from every region of the world. Every indication is that we are still doing so. The naysayers keep being proven wrong when it comes to the great American assimilation machine.

In general I agree with the author.

However, something always works until it doesn't.

By this same logic, a Frenchman in 1860 could have proclaimed that France would never have anything to fear from the Germans, who had always been and would always be divided and fighting among themselves.

That adult reactions to the rock and roll of the 50s was overly negative doesn't necessarily mean that gangster rap is a healthy cultural manifestation. And numerous other possible examples.

You’ll like this story. I was staying overnight in Newport Beach, California, and pulled up to a nice hotel. A young man, college age, ran up to open my door and valet park my car.

A pleasant fair-haired fellow wearing the hotel’s standard jacket and tie. I looked at him, thanked him, then looked at his badge so I could use his name. His badge read, “Chen,” a well-known Chinese name.

I interrupted my thanks and said, “Oh, you must be wearing someone else’s badge.”

The poor fellow sighed and said, “No sir, that’s my name. My paternal grandfather’s last name was Chen.”

Of course I felt like a heel.

That’s what the USA has become. A place where you can’t judge someone’s race or ethnicity by his name. Where ordinary white guys have last names like Chen.

FYI and last point to you — I have a Hispanic name also but no connection to Mexico or anywhere else in Latin America. I never let myself be called Hispanic or minority, and certainly don’t let my three kids be called as such.

While I don’t disagree with Ms Chavez, I still want to send all the d-mn illegals home. THEN we can all go about celebrating diversity with about 75% fewer Mexicans dirtying up California and the rest of the nation.

And yes, I expect I will not be asked to “press 1 for English” anymore.

This is more globalist, we are the world, BS! If we are all the same then what is/was America is mirage and every other country and peoples are just like us. The Constitution was a mistake and our form of government and history was really just a fluke. So let’s get rid of the borders, get rid of all notions of nation and people. Get rid of all religions too while we are at it. Hook into the Borg machine and let the fun begin.
