Batman and Rush: Why McCain Will Win
The American Spectator ^ | August 19, 2008 | Jeffrey Lord

Posted on 08/19/2008 5:35:49 AM PDT by AU72

OK. I'll walk out on a limb. This election has already been decided. It's over. The winner is John McCain. While other cultures put a premium on thinking (the French) or order (the Germans), Americans want our presidents to respond just as we do in our culture -- with their gut. The next time you see Obama in an unscripted TV appearance watch his face as he does this and you will see it in a flash. Obama is...yes...thinking. Telegraphing in utterly unconscious fashion to voters precisely what Rapaille says they do not want: a potential president who "thinks too much." Thinking translated here as indecisiveness, weakness, dawdling, timidity. Remember Reagan on his philosophy about ending the Cold War? "We win, they lose," he said. The Soviets, he said, were "an evil empire." Nothing complicated. Issues came and issues went with the centuries, but the American tendency to go instinctively for the guy who seemed the most instinctively action oriented appeared time and time again. ..every time the media thinks they are promoting Obama they are in fact doing him damage. Subtle, yet irreversible damage that will eventually begin to show itself in the polling numbers if it hasn't already. What will Americans be voting for in 2008? The same thing they have been voting for routinely in every election since the beginning of American presidential elections. They want action. A willingness to risk. They want someone who doesn't give a damn what others think. They want Batman. They want Rush. So they will elect McCain.

I think he nails it.

The more the MSM covers Obama the more his popularity will tank!

I think its pretty evident from last week. McCain believes what he believes and is proud to admit it. Obama is afraid what he believes will turn off voters and does his best to hide it.

Don't get me wrong, I like style. But stylishness is not appropriate in a President. We want someone who knows how to react to life and death situations. Americans will pick a Boots President Over A Suit President for that reason.

Obama has not enough thoughtless minions to vote for him. Independent voters in the middle will decide, and they will go more McCain. McCain will win in a landslide.

I saw Obama in Warren’s show. He was SO bad ! Incredible. It looks like Obama does very bad without prepared speeches - very good news for the upcoming debates.

McCain on the other side added humor with solid arguments. He was amazing !

I mean, I watched them and I’m really convinced McCain will utimately win. Obama was good in the Spring for the show. He will be terrible in the fall for the real elections. McCain is just the contrary.

I think Democrats should have chosen Hillary : bad in the Spring, but good when people are voting according to someone’s record.

I agree with Podhoretz and Kristol (http://leblogdrzz.over-blog.com/article-22049632.html) that Obama’s candidacy will collapse very soon. He is already below Kerry’s performance in 2004 - despite the MSM propaganda which wants us to believe he is very successful.

That’s what Warren’s show revealed : Obama is a big joke. He will never even get close to the White House.

Not to mention the fact that obama readily admits that the judgment necessary for the job is “above his pay grade”...

You hit the nail on the head better than the author. It's not the fact the President is willing to act, it's the fact that he knows when and how to act. No quibbling, no indecisiveness, He's been around the block and is prepared.

I agree with your statement but I’m afraid Barry will brush up and McCain may become a bit cocky during the first debate. I hope McCain remains humble and down to earth as he did with Warren.

I disagree. As Rush says, Obama doesn’t really think about things. You can tell from what he says. He is just trying to remember the right talking points that he needs to say in order obfuscate what he really believes. That’s why he has to hem and haw all the time. It’s takes longer to remember the “right” answer, than to simply say what you really believe. And he doesn’t ever say anything original that would indicate that he does spend time thinking about thinks deeply.

It’s funny though that the author presents Rush as an example of someone who doesn’t think. In fact Rush thinks things through and presents unique insights all the time.

Obama is a celebrity. But the glow of celebrities wears off as we get to know them. Familiarity breeds contempt. The McCain ad with Paris Hilton was right on the money.

Bigger problem is that he is thinking how to cover his a$$ on every answer. That’s what you get with an attorney. I’ll take the pilot instead.

I just wish they would wait until after the convention nomination next week to run with predictions like this. Otherwise, the she-witch WILL rise from the dead.

I sure hope your right, not having any doubts, but there are just too many idiots in this country anymore. The General population of the younger crowd is so lazy and think everything is owed to them. It is getting so bad in the gimmi crowd, I have a HS grad in my house that just graduated this year, if the future of this nation is going to be decided by the HS grads today, LOOK OUT!

I don’t hang onto Rush’s every word, but with Rush, his brain is quick, the right and cleaver words just spew out without any effort.
