I read a NYT article by neocon Bill Kristol where he pushes pretty hard for Joe Lieberman to be McCain’s pick. Kinda scary, since this guy and his PNAC group were big influences on our aggressive policy in the Middle East.

If it’s an “out of the box” choice it could upstage Obama’s speech. Frankly, none of the choices mentioned would do that.

IMHO the McCain camp is using the same tactics that Odumbo used by stringing the media along on an imminent announcement that never materializes. Well, at least not until it’s THE perfect spoiler time.

Each day of the DNC convention expect a leaked rumor that the announcement is coming along with rumor’s that it’s going to be him or her. The talking heads then start speculating about what if it’s him or her, all the time taking bit’s and pieces of the dem’s spotlight away. Then on the last day of the convention I’d make my announcement just before the 6:00 news of a female VP choice.

If I was running the RNC I’d be running ads during the convention courting those disenfranchised women Hillary supporters. Particulary ones highlighting McCain working with women hinting at a the selection of a female VP.

He’d be an idiot to do so before the RATs locked in. Furthermore it would be a petty thing to do during their convention. Didn’t Lurch pull a stunt like that in ‘04?

The 10 million most ignorant Americans will decide who runs our government.

How’s that strike ya?

No to Petraeus. Nothing against him, but more military/foreign policy experience is not what the McCain ticket needs.

“...before the

presumptive democrat candidate is elevated?”

Don’t you mean hoisted on his own petard?

He should announce tomorrow since all the KoolAde-drinking Dem spinmeisters will be tied up in Denver for most of the week. It would make chaos of their schedules.

Sarah Palin, yeah. Also ok: Carly Fiorina, Kay Bailey Hutchinson and the aforesaid general. Mitt’s ok but ho-hum. Is Huck out? As long as we win.

My bet is it'll be a professional politician with the middle name Boring, to keep up with the proud Stupid Party tradition (broken only once, by Dubya in 2000.)

This Dynamic Duo won't even win the Oregon city of Boring!

He told Jay Leno he’d come back and annouce it on the Tonight show earlier in the year and he is on tonight. I’m wondering if the announcement won’t come tonight to upstage the DNC convention?

Palin & Hutchinson are good. Carly has WAY too much baggage and was a monumental failure in business. If he wants a business-heavy VP, Romney would be better. My favorite is Palin. I lived in Alaska for 20 years, and I LOVE the attitude of most Alaskans, and she appears to be a typical no-BS kind of lady.

All of the stupid voters throughout the entire U.S. will always be of concern to all of the other, wiser voters.

“I’d keep Petraeus in the wings to be Sec. Def.”

I would too, and perhaps in 2012. I love him, but right now we need General Petraeus where he is to win the war and possible conflicts we might have with Iran or Russia.

I just had a thought that the DEMS would jump up and down and claim the Republican Party is the “make war” party with McCain/Petraeus ticket being the ones wanting to “make war”.

I don’t see how anyone dragging Hillary’s baggage could ‘coast’ anywhere.

Could you imagine what Cheney would do to her in a VP debate? You could break the all time money making record for pay-per-view.

Heck, if Hillary was the V.P., Obama would have to worry about staying alive from January 21st, 2009 onward!

John McCain can truly confuse a lot of people by deciding to choose Barack Obama to be his VP! That would truly drive everybody crazy.
