Until further verified, I simply see no reason, beyond hopes, to believe this.

Maybe, but not so much. Opium production has increased a lot since we went into Afghanistan and even with this drop they still produce more than any other country in the world by a long shot. It’s good to see production dropping some, but it has to drop a lot more before it makes much of a difference in a world awash in relatively cheap heroin.
