"...the Church teaches that from the time of conception (fertilization), each member of the human species must be given the full respect due to a human person..." Everyone needs to be aware that 'conception' is often used to refer to the implantation of the zygote and not strictly to fertilization.
Thus birth-control pills (that also work by preventing implantation of the zygote) and similar forms of 'birth control' actually result in the spontaneous abortion of zygotes.
This is why the Christian community cannot get rid of abortion in America. Too many 'good, Christian ladies' sitting in church spontaneously aborting their children through 'birth control'.
