***To express the sense of the Senate concerning the decision of the Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade.***

A sense of the Senate isn't worth the time it took to record the vote.

I'm not a Hutchison fan but I'm not convinced she's really pro-choice.

http://www.issues2000.org/Social/Kay_Bailey_Hutchison_Abortion.htm

Hutchison scores 75% by the NRLC on abortion issues
OnTheIssues.org interprets the 2006 NRLC scores as follows:

0% - 15%: pro-choice stance (approx. 174 members)
16%- 84%: mixed record on abortion (approx. 101 members)
85%-100%: pro-life stance (approx. 190 members)

The post could have been better but the link does lead to a roll call vote where the Harkin Amendment (S.Amdt. 260 to S. 3) was agreed to by a 2 vote majority, Hutchinson's being one of them along with the usual handful of RINOs (chaffee, Collins, Snowe). I think that is telling because the vote was so close. There is no way with that vote to don the pro-life mantle.

I note that Biden skipped the vote. Trains not running that day?

I saw her on Larry King last night and the only thought I had was, “Please don't pick her for VP.” She was uninspiring and I kept thinking that Biden would wipe the floor with her. Surely there are stronger VP candidates out there then KBH.

Border issues? Then you need to see Post #24 on this thread. KBH gutted the Secure Fence Act of 2006. I then posted more info at #142 for a doubter.

Don't let her fool you.

As one who lives in the state whose values she has failed MISERABLY to represent, I urge calls to McCain's headquarters to discourage any more talk of this 10-faced ughhgerly who actually favors opening the borders even more to an invasion of laborers and high-tech folk alike.

The ones on FreeRepublic who like the idea simply do not know her and should do their own research. A woman on the ticket for the sake of putting one there is WRONG-HEADED!

Well maybe, like non-social conservatives during Reagan's time, you can lower yourself to respect the Social Conservatives desires as well, because they don't disagree with you on your issues.

Yea right!

Hutchison shouldn't be VP but I would like to see a Pro-life woman as VP. Hutchy is a mixed bag but I wouldn't go as far to say she's pro-choice based on a sense of the Senate vote.

Palin is very much pro-life. From one of my previous posts (#89):

Palin showed a committment to her pro-life conservative principles by not bowing to the pressure to abort her mentally-challenged child. Rarely are one's convictions borne out by real-life circumstances, but Palin showed she's willing to live her beliefs.

Does this unconvince you?:
Senator Tom Harkin (D-Iowa) offered an amendment to the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act (S. 3) stating, "It is the sense of the Senate that the decision of the Supreme Court in Roe v. Wade (410 U.S. 113 (1973)) was appropriate and secures an important constitutional right; and such decision should not be overturned."
She was one of nine republicans voting FOR that amendment. She agrees that there is a Federal Constitutional RIGHT to an Abortion. How does she reconcile that with being pro-life???

“KBH is Pro-CHOICE, she is PRO-CHOICE She is PRO-CHOICE!”

You mean she’s PRO-ABORTION, PRO-ABORTION.

I’m PRO-LIFE, PRO-LIFE

They’re never given a “choice.”

John Cornyn would be the far better Conservative candidate.

But we all know what MeCain thinks of real Conservatives.

KBH is a MeCain Republican, not a Conservative.

to clarify, her name is Hutchison, not Hutchinson.

KBH is a RINO. She is in the pocket of big airlines (read American Airlines) to the BIG detriment of her voters.

She recently pushed through a restriction on flights from Love Field in Dallas whereby Southwest Airlines has to wait 8 years to fully open up flights all over the country from Love. The agreement called for REDUCING gates to restrict competition, which of course drives up prices for the little people. It also called for tearing down a new terminal so another airline could not use it. Further, the agreement calls for area cities to oppose new airports that would compete with Love. Thanks Kay Bailey.

Second, she is now involved in trying to prevent the US Govt from auctioning off slots at NY airports. Government officials say the plan will allow market forces to reduce inefficiencies and make air travel more reliable. She is joined in this effort by fellow democrats Chucky Schumer (D-NY) and Patty Murray (D-Wash).
American Airlines and Continental Airlines are some of the biggest carriers at these airports. Employees and officials of both carriers are or have been contributors to Hutchison.

Thanks again, Kay Bailey. You forget that you work for the voters, not the airlines.

Thanks for posting this. Hubby and I were discussing it just the other night. He was skeptical when I said KBH was pro-choice, couldn’t believe a Texas Republican could be anything but pro-life.
