If we want a Democrat for VP as the Republican nominee....we can always pick Zell Miller.
IMHO much better than any of the Repub. VP possible choices.

But they can't get away with it -- and this has been made clear to McCain by none other than Joe Lieberman himself.
If this is true, and Lieberman actually tried to dissuade McCain from picking him even though it would make him lose out on a such a huge opportunity, I have even more respect for Joe. I still wouldn't want him as vice president, but he is an honorable man.

I like Joe Lieberman. Would I vote for Joe Lieberman? No.........

I would like to know the names of these “influential McCain backers” who are promoting Lieberman as VP. The article never states that, does it?

THese are the kind of people that the McCain worshipers are about to put into office.
A McCain presidency will be a "conservatives need not apply" administration.
Why would I or any other conservative vote for this?
Oh yeah. the same ol' argument I've been hearing since Reagan years: Otherwise you'll get
Fine. Vote for this liberal administration. I don't intend to.

There is no reason why the convention has to vote for Lieberman.
“Because McCain wants him!”
Pulleaze!
McCain is lucky enough not to have a mutiny
just over himself.

I could accept Liberman as Sec Def or Sec State. I like him as a person and think he’s an honorable man and a patriot. But I don’t want him to be VP.
IF McCain selects him, and Liberman accepts it ... well ... I’ll have no choice but to vote for them because the alternative is too frightening to contemplate.

There’s no way McCain could be stupid enough to select Lieberman as his running mate. Is there? But then, Jim Fergosi put in the Wild Thing in the 1993 World Series.

McCain has to be himself. He isn’t good at pretending to be something he isn’t.

Lieberman as Vice-President? HELL NO.
Lieberman as Secretary of State? I wouldn’t object. I’d rather see somebody a lot more pugnacious like John Bolton, but Lieberman could do a pretty credible job. If nothing else, he could bore some of our enemies into signing treaties with us...

...the Republicans would leave Minnesota in a state of disarray with a McCain-Lieberman ticket. You bet. This would be a classic case of pooping in the punch bowl. It says a lot about McCain that nobody puts it past him.

It is hard enough to pull the lever for McCain. If he picks Lieberman, that will seal the 3rd Party deal for me. I can only go so far in support of a liberal ticket.
