Theoretically, Russia was going after one of its “former” territories (Similar to the China-Taiwan situation). Therefore, in the Chinese view, it was a legit attack.

Well you must know of the ancient Chinese strategy of let “barbarians” fight “barbarians”.

Actually, this is the ancient universal strategy of not simply "letting", but goading barbarians into fighting barbarians (with "barbarian" meaning the other guys). The Russians used it by signing the non-aggression pact with Hitler to free him up to invade the West. Seven centuries ago, the Khitans had a non-aggression pact with Genghis Khan so that he would avoid invading the Liao state, while freeing him up to invade other neighbors of the Mongols. And the Romans clearly pitted the foreign tribes within and without the empire against each other.

And in WWII, the Communists largely sat out the war, while urging the Nationalists to fight the Japanese. Simultaneously, the Nationalists tried to reduce the scale of their warfighting efforts, figuring they'd have to deal with the Communists postwar, and hoping to offload the fighting to American, British and ANZ forces fighting their way across the Pacific. Note the Europeans spent the Cold War trying to triangulate between Uncle Sam and the Soviet Union, suggesting that this was mainly a struggle between two equally evil systems that had nothing to do with Europe. This kind of economy of force is why China financed, supplied and trained communist revolutionaries to the tune of about $10b through most of the Cold War (until 1979). It is also why China and the Soviets supported Korean and Vietnamese Communists against the US.

That was NATO.

Clinton went along as a wag the dog over his domestic problems.

The situation was instigated by the Germans, not the US, as this poster contends.

China, that loving bastion of human rights and utopian peace.. right?
After all, they’re such a great place!
The hundred yard tank dash at “That quaint little square” for example...

China spent most of the Cold War arming communist revolutionaries to overthrow their respective governments and abrogating territorial treaties it did not like as “unequal treaties”. China is no respecter of UN rules or international law. It imposes huge tariffs on foreign imports even as foreign countries impose nugatory tariffs on Chinese imports, so it is no respecter of reciprocity either.
