And Where Are The Witnesses To His Ability?
IBD Editorials ^ | August 28, 2008 | Charles Krauthammer

Posted on 08/28/2008 6:21:26 PM PDT by Kaslin

Barack Obama is an immensely talented man whose talents have been largely devoted to crafting, and chronicling, his own life. Not things. Not ideas. Not institutions. But himself.

Nothing wrong or even terribly odd about that, except that he is laying claim to the job of crafting the coming history of the United States. A leap of such audacity is odd.

The air of unease at the Democratic Convention this week was not just a result of the Clinton psychodrama. The deeper anxiety was that the party was nominating a man of many gifts but precious few accomplishments — bearing even fewer witnesses.

When John Kerry was introduced at his convention four years ago, an honor guard of a dozen mates from his Vietnam days surrounded him on the podium attesting to his character and readiness to lead.

Such personal testimonials are the norm. The roster of fellow soldiers or fellow senators who could from personal experience vouch for John McCain is rather long. At a less partisan date in the calendar, that roster might even include Democrats Russ Feingold and Edward Kennedy, with whom John McCain has worked to fashion important legislation.

I beg to differ. I think if he was so accomplished and smart, we’d have seen something come out of him. Instead it’s just a bunch of empty rhetoric.
blech.

“The deeper anxiety was that the party was nominating a man of many gifts but precious few accomplishments — bearing even fewer witnesses.”

Obama pads his resume, like the kid who makes photocopies and claims he is Director of Reproduction Services.

The oddity of this convention is that its central figure is the ultimate self-made man, a dazzling mysterious Gatsby.

Bullseye.

When John Kerry was introduced at his convention four years ago, an honor guard of a dozen mates from his Vietnam days surrounded him on the podium attesting to his character and readiness to lead.

A much larger honorable guard of peers from this Vietnam days stood up and attested to Kerry's failure of character and unfitness to command.

Important? You bet. Important like that IED planted in the roadway.

"The oddity of this convention is that its central figure is the ultimate self-made man, a dazzling mysterious Gatsby. The palpable apprehension is that the anointed is a stranger — a deeply engaging, elegant, brilliant stranger with whom the Democrats had a torrid affair. Having slowly woken up, they see the ring and wonder who exactly they married last night."

Love the last two paragraphs. So true.

And then "Reporting For Duty" hero Kerry put his tail between his legs and headed for the tall grass

I think most telling sign of the imminent failure of obama is when his supporters are asked “What has he accomplished?”. They all stammer, stutter and shift uncomfortably in their seats.

There is nothing there, he is is a hollow man with only the delusion of grandeur to comfort himself and his deluded mindless followers.

Krauthammer one again hits the nail right on the head in clear and certain terms...not a trait many psychiatrists have! I enjoy nothing more than watching Hannity interview an Obama supporter and simply asking them to tell him two or three specific accomplishments of Barak Obama that qualifies him to be the leader of the Free World.
It was priceless watching him put that question to Dukakis last night... of course, he couldn’t come up with one!!! Poor Alan Colmes tried to help him out by telling him that Obama worked on health care, social issues and the like while a state senator in Illinois. But Hannity said that is nice for generallizations, but what specific accomplish can you point to? He stumbled and fumbled so much Hannity felt sorry for him and let him off the hook....by that time the point was once again well made! There simply is no There, there!
As we say in Texas...Obama is all hat, no cattle!

the party was nominating a man of many gifts but precious few accomplishments — bearing even fewer witnesses.

And almost none of it can be documented.

Osama Obama’s speeches remind me of a song by Toby Keith: “I wanna talk about me, I wanna talk about I...”

Obama’s only experience is as a leftist radical - which makes him perfectly acceptable to the base of the Democratic Party.

Yes Charlie, you are right, as usual. But Hussein has left out some of most important features of HIMSELF. The ones the leftist MSM will not print....including Wright, Rezko, Ayers, Berg lawsuit, Constitutional protection, and the list goes on.

The Democrats could have had people there who would testify from personal knowledge of Obama’s character and readiness to lead, but they chickened out because of the attacks over the past few months by Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, and others...they should have had Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright there speaking on behalf of Obama, but they wimped out.

Intelligence is knowing what you need to know when you need to know it. Thus far, Obama only intelligence is the use of his silver tongue and flashy style with the 20 to 45 age group. Obama says a great whole lot about absolutely nothing.

I pray every night God will save this USA but God has every right to tell the USA to go get “bonked” with barbed wire.

God, how can you allow so many stupid people to live in the USA to accept a person as president when he knows nothing he needs to know.
