Brilliant McCain Stroke: Now Hillary & Bill Can Vote For A Female... (Debbie Schlussel Thumbs Up!)

Though I'm no big fan of John McCain, his choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as his running mate is a stroke of genius. Brilliant.

I'm not into affirmative action picks, but Palin is smart, articulate, and competent in her own right, regardless of whether she has a uterus. And in this case, McCain picking a woman--a bright conservative who happens to be female--was necessary.

It was necessary because Barack Obama made a big mistake in picking Joe Biden. He angered female Hillary supporters. Now, they will have a tough time voting for the Obama-Biden ticket, which dissed them, and the McCain affirmative action ticket, which gave them something to think about.

The choice of Palin makes me more enthused to cast my vote for John McCain in November, because I like Palin. She's pro-drilling for oil in ANWR and offshore, she's pro-life, and she's an attractive and intelligent married mother of several kids. And she articulates the conservative viewpoint well.

And McCain's timing was genius and masterful, too. The "bounce"--if there was any--and buzz about Barack Obama's over-rated, ho-hum acceptance speech, last night, is over. Finito. So sad, too bad.

Right On about the windbag from Delaware. I can hardly wait to see a VP debate where Plugs tries to get all up in the Governor’s grille. She will chew all the taste out of him and spit him on the floor.

Way to go Senator McCain! I’ll start sending money to the Texas GOP again.

Roger that. Exactly my own sentiments.

You’ve got to give McCain a few points: he’s courageous, smart, and devious. He might be the most talented ‘politician’ in a while.

Palin is a brilliant choice. She gets the conservative base interested again, and she gets positioned to be a future Pres. I’ve always thought the first female Pres would be a Republican, and a conservative.

This woman is not ready to be commander in chief. For that Joe Biden really is a better choice. There's no way I'll ever pull the lever for John McCain now.

How much foreign policy experience did Governors Reagan and George W. Bush have before they were President (not to mention Clinton and Carter?) No governor has foreign policy experience. However, as VP, she will get excellent exposure and training in that arena. Remember, Americans generally elect governors as CiC because of their executive experience, which she has.

As a former MILITARY FEMALE, this woman has what it takes to be COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF and I will vote for her, although formerly I was skeptical of McCain’s liberal stand on certain issues. Knows as “Sarah the Barricuda”, Gov Palin has what it takes, and is God’s answer to prayer for prevention of Obamamania

.......right......{snore}......

So I guess you'll vote for Obama then.

Ummm, no, I've never voted for a leftist from either the GOP or the democrat party and won't be doing so this time as well.

I live in Colorado. If the polls show the State moving out of tossup status and going towards McCain, then I will write in Ronald Regan as my protest vote.

If however, the race is still close, with Palin now on the ticket, I can hold my nose and vote for him.

With Palin on the ticket I might even send $25 to the GOP.

I respect McCain, as much as I disagree with some of his policies, I think he's a decent man. My vote won't matter much in the DPRM (Democratic Peoples Republic of Massachusetts) but I will still be contributing to his campaign. The alternative is absolutely unthinkable!

Eric, You are bringing up some very valid points. While I find Sara preferable to the provenly incompetant Condi Rice (who the affirmative action wing of FR really loved), I agree that her experience in FP is a definite weakness. I have a feeling she will get creamed by Biden in the debate.

Senators are theoreticians, Governors are administrators.

Obama, McCain and Biden have had no experience in getting things done. Sara has as governor.

I have been very wary of this election because it appeared to be made up of Senators. Now the dynamic has changed dramatically in our favor.

So just watch and wait, Bright Boi. You too will come around.

>>I have a feeling she will get creamed by Biden in the debate.<<

One question will settle the whole debate - if Biden is stupid enough to accept. “Explain to American voters your view on abortion?”

Don’t sit too close for the Duke of Delaware’s head is going to explode like one of Gallagher’s watermelons.

Too bad Biden isn't running for the job. But Obama is, so knock yourself out with that fine CinC material you got there.

No, I'll be voting for the most constitutionally conservative third party candidate.

Everybody seems to be quaking with fear about Joe Biden. I don't get it. The only times he scored in the 'rat debates was when he basically differed from the party line. Otherwise he mouths off too much, utters stupid gaffes, and relies on sound bites.

Face it, 36 years in the Senate doesn't mean squat as far as debating skills--they haven't had a true debate there since about 1857. I reference for your consideration how goofy-foot dyslexic George Bush defeated the "tough experienced senate debater" John VietNam Kerry in 2000, and Senate Princeling Al Gore in 2004; and how old fly-fisherman Dick Cheney dismantled the glib shyster-senator Johnboy Edwards. And they all were better at it than Biden.

I have yet to hear Sara Palin speak, but from her bio, I have a feeling that if she stays within herself she can do all right against this bozo.
